Our lives tend to get so busy that we sometimes forget the most important thing we need which is God’s Presence. It sounds so simple and cliché but it is very easy to do when life gets overwhelming. God should be our guide, resource, breathe, and everything we need to conquer the day.

I am a youth pastor in North Alabama and things have been overwhelming at times. My wife and I are expecting our first baby, our church is in the renovating process, did I mention I am a youth pastor, and life in general has its own way of just being busy. Life can get out of control quick without you even blinking. There have even been times where I would do my day to day things and be absolutely lifeless. Why is that? I can tell you why, because I didn’t continually stay in His presence. I opted out spending time with God, with spending time with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram instead. It can be so easy to substitute the things of God, with the things of this world when we don’t have our priorities in check. God wanted to be my daily bread; He wanted me to wake up to Him so that I could be prepared to conquer the day.

I’ll end with this, Godly leadership requires Godly presence.

Moses, David, and Joshua all understood how important it was to be in the presence of God. How much more should we lean on His presence. God’s presence is a peace in the middle of all the chaos. People will follow a leader who has peace in the middle of chaos. Spend time with God today.

Here are some verses to encourage you in whatever you are facing:

Philippians 4:7

Acts 3:19-20

Matthew 6:9-13

John 10:10

Adrian and Wendy Mostella are the pastors of the Student and Young Adult Ministry at Faith Chapel in Huntsville, Alabama.
