{"id":1977,"date":"2020-01-14T15:31:53","date_gmt":"2020-01-14T21:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/?p=1977"},"modified":"2020-09-24T10:41:42","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T15:41:42","slug":"iphc-supports-sanctity-of-human-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/2020\/01\/14\/iphc-supports-sanctity-of-human-life\/","title":{"rendered":"IPHC Supports Sanctity of Human Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>January 19th, 2020 the IPHC family will join with millions around the nation as we celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.<\/h3>\n<p>On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. (January 22, 1973, was the day the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand in all 50 states.) Churches around the United States use the day to celebrate God&#8217;s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protect human life at every stage. Today, the third Sunday in January is recognized as the official Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. <strong>For 2020, Sanctity of Human Life will fall on January 19th.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1982\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/11\/march-for-life.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1982\" class=\"wp-image-1982 size-portrait\" src=\"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/11\/march-for-life-440x550.jpg\" alt=\"march for life\" width=\"440\" height=\"550\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1982\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bishop Tommy McGhee, Bishop Abel Palomo, and Presiding Bishop Dr. Doug Beacham at the March for Life<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In addition to recognizing SOHL, our presiding Bishop, Dr. Doug Beacham, and many other IPHC leaders will meet in Washington, DC on January 24nd to participate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/marchforlife.org\/national-march-for-life\/\">March for Life Rally<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;Thousands upon thousands of Americans flock to the Nation\u2019s Capital on January 24 to remember the more than 55 million Americans who have been lost to abortion. We march to remember the moms and dads who have suffered from the pain of abortion. We march with the vision of a culture of life, one where every child is welcomed into life, and protected by law.&#8221; <em>marchforlife.org<\/em><\/h3>\n<h2>How Can You Participate?<\/h2>\n<p>There are many ways you can get involved this winter in Sanctity of Human Life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOHL Sunday- <\/strong>Make plans to recognize January 19th as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. If you can&#8217;t do it on the 19th, choose another Sunday in January.<\/p>\n<p><strong>March for Life- <\/strong>Join the IPHC at March for Life on January 24th. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/marchforlife.org\/national-march-for-life\/\">click here<\/a> for more information. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 7:00pm the Mid-Atlantic Conference will host a special March for Life service at Maranatha Fellowship in College Park, MD. Bishop Doug Beacham will be the guest speaker with a special time of worship led by the Emmanuel Singers from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA. Joey Leggett, CEO of Falcon Children&#8217;s Home and Karelys Pereira, Director of the Royal Home will be there as well.
