{"id":2685,"date":"2016-12-08T09:00:07","date_gmt":"2016-12-08T09:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/?p=2685"},"modified":"2016-11-30T18:30:22","modified_gmt":"2016-11-30T18:30:22","slug":"childrens-ministry-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/2016\/12\/08\/childrens-ministry-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Children&#8217;s Ministry &amp; Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When it comes to recruiting and keeping volunteers, some people seem to have a knack for it.<\/p>\n<p>Holly Terry, Children\u2019s Pastor at Bethel Life in Greenville, Pennsylvania, would be one of those people.\u00a0 Children\u2019s Ministry team member, Lindsey Snider, talked with Pastor Holly about how she approaches her volunteer ministry and what she does to keep it continually growing.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Holly says, <em>\u201cThe volunteers at Bethel Life, well, they are amazing people.\u00a0 The best recruitment has always been one-on-one, and it still is.\u00a0 I have encouraged people that when they are talking to someone&#8230; listen to what they are saying and you will hear what moves their heart.\u00a0 Whether it be computers, adults, children, decorating, parties, crafts, etc.; when you hear these things, this is a great way to direct them to where to get involved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She talked about a class they offer volunteers called \u201cConnections\u201d.\u00a0 This is a Sunday morning class that happens for four weeks.\u00a0 The first Sunday is START- this is about the church history and who they are.\u00a0 The second Sunday is GROW- how to connect to small groups.\u00a0 The third Sunday is SERVE-\u00a0 discovering each individuals gifts and talents then introducing them to opportunities at Bethel where they can serve. \u00a0The fourth Sunday is SHARE- how to share their faith with others and the tools they need to help share their faith.\u00a0 This method gives people the opportunity to see what they offer at Bethel Life and where they can get connected.\u00a0 Once they fill out a paper stating where they may be interested, it is given to one of the leaders of that department and they make a phone call to them. That leader sets up a meeting, discusses in detail the position, and then Pastor Holly provides them a welcome aboard kit.\u00a0 Each kit has a folder with application, information about their position, a welcome letter and a CM T-shirt, bracelet and pen.\u00a0 She will introduce them to the Lead coordinator of that ministry where they exchange contact information and connect.<\/p>\n<p>A tool that has been helpful in keeping track of their volunteer schedule is called \u201cPlanning Center\u201d.\u00a0 Once they find out the volunteer\u2019s time and availability to serve, they are added to Planning Center.\u00a0 This system allows an app to be placed on each volunteer\u2019s phone to help in setting the schedule and sending text alerts.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Holly said they have reached a place where they have a large number of new people entering the church and are looking at ways to display what they offer that may interest the person\u2019s heart to get connected.\u00a0 One idea they are beginning is called the \u201cSAY YES\u201d campaign.\u00a0 Pastor Holly says<em>, \u201cI follow a Children&#8217;s Ministry page on Facebook that showed them doing \u2018SAY YES\u2019 campaign.\u00a0 This truly touched my heart and inspired me to do the same.\u00a0 Instead of saying \u2018please volunteer!\u2019 I can ask them to \u2018Say Yes\u2019 to where you can invest, get involved, use your talents that God has placed in you to benefit others.\u00a0 Find out where you can \u2018SAY YES!\u2019 This campaign is going to be a display that stays out at Bethel Life where we will show all the ministries that need you to\u00a0\u2018SAY YES\u2019.\u00a0The display is made out of crates and the lighted letters on top spell out SAY YES\u00a0with string across the crates.\u00a0 We will have little cards where they fill out their information with the ministries they are interested in.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pastor Holly has come to realize that maintaining a great relationship with her volunteers is done by staying in constant contact.\u00a0 She says, <em>\u201cWhether it is by text, a card, talking with them on Sunday, or little gifts to say thank you; it\u2019s about reminding people that Children\u2019s Ministry is not possible without them!\u00a0 They have a rare opportunity to share and show the love of Christ to these little ones.\u00a0 Let\u2019s make\u00a0it count when we have them in our responsibility!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>About the Author<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2650 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Lindsey-e1477066861834-252x300.jpg\" alt=\"lindsey\" width=\"252\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Lindsey-e1477066861834-252x300.jpg 252w, https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Lindsey-e1477066861834-768x915.jpg 768w, https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Lindsey-e1477066861834-859x1024.jpg 859w, https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Lindsey-e1477066861834-200x238.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/>Lindsey Snider<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Children\u2019s Ministries Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Creative Specialist (Discipleship Ministries)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lindsey was born and raised in Oklahoma.\u00a0She graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in 2007 with a degree in Counseling and a minor in Bible. Esta es una clase de la ma\u00f1ana el domingo que sucede durante cuatro semanas. El primer domingo se INICIO- se trata de la historia de la iglesia y lo que son. El segundo domingo es creciente la forma de conectar a los grupos peque\u00f1os. El tercer domingo se SERVE- descubriendo cada uno de los individuos dones y talentos luego introducirlos a las oportunidades en Betel, donde pueden servir. El cuarto domingo se nistas c\u00f3mo compartir su fe con otros y las herramientas que necesitan para ayudar a compartir su fe. Este m\u00e9todo da a la gente la oportunidad de ver lo que ofrecen en Bet-Vida y en la que pueden conectarse. Una vez que llenan un papel que dec\u00eda en los que pueden estar interesados, se le da a uno de los l\u00edderes de ese departamento y hacer una llamada telef\u00f3nica a ellos. Ese l\u00edder establece una reuni\u00f3n, analiza en detalle la posici\u00f3n, y luego acebo Pastor les ofrece una bienvenida a bordo del kit. Cada kit tiene una carpeta con la aplicaci\u00f3n, informaci\u00f3n sobre su posici\u00f3n, una carta de bienvenida y un CM camiseta, pulsera y pluma. Se introducir\u00e1 al coordinador de plomo de ese ministerio en la que intercambian informaci\u00f3n de contacto y conectar. Una herramienta que ha sido de gran ayuda en el seguimiento de su horario de voluntarios se llama &quot;Centro de Planificaci\u00f3n&quot;. Una vez que se enteran de tiempo y disponibilidad del voluntario para servir, que se a\u00f1aden al Centro de Planificaci\u00f3n. Este sistema permite una aplicaci\u00f3n para ser colocado en el tel\u00e9fono de cada voluntario para ayudar en el establecimiento de la agenda y enviar alertas de texto. Pastor de Holly dijo que han llegado a un lugar donde tienen un gran n\u00famero de nuevas personas que entran en la iglesia y est\u00e1n buscando formas para mostrar lo que ofrecen que pueden interesar coraz\u00f3n de la persona para conectarse. Una de las ideas que est\u00e1n empezando se llama la campa\u00f1a &quot;Decir s\u00ed&quot;. Pastor Holly <em>dice: \u00abYo sigo p\u00e1gina de un Ministerio de los Ni\u00f1os en Facebook que mostraron ellos haciendo campa\u00f1a&quot; Decir s\u00ed &quot;. Esto realmente me lleg\u00f3 al coraz\u00f3n y me inspir\u00f3 a hacer lo mismo. En lugar de decir &quot;por favor voluntario! &#39; Puedo pedirles que digan &quot;s\u00ed&quot; a donde se puede invertir, involucrarse, utilizar sus talentos que Dios ha puesto en ti para beneficiar a otros. Averiguar donde se puede &quot;decir s\u00ed! &#39; Esta campa\u00f1a va a ser una pantalla que se queda fuera en Bet-Vida donde mostraremos todos los ministerios que se necesitan para &quot;Decir s\u00ed&quot;. La pantalla est\u00e1 hecha de cajas y las letras encendidas en tapa explican decir que s\u00ed con una cuerda a trav\u00e9s de las cajas. Tendremos peque\u00f1as tarjetas donde se llenen su informaci\u00f3n con los ministerios que les interesa. &quot;Pastor<\/em> acebo ha dado cuenta de que mantener una gran relaci\u00f3n con sus voluntarios se realiza por permanecer en contacto constante. Ella dice: <em>&quot;Tanto si se trata de un texto, una tarjeta, hablando con ellos el domingo, o peque\u00f1os regalos para dar las gracias; se trata de recordar a la gente que el ministerio de los ni\u00f1os no es posible sin ellos! Tienen una oportunidad \u00fanica para compartir y mostrar el amor de Cristo a estos peque\u00f1os.
