{"id":3301,"date":"2017-08-30T19:22:21","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T19:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/?p=3301"},"modified":"2017-09-06T20:53:26","modified_gmt":"2017-09-06T20:53:26","slug":"pastor-appreciation-day-article-bishop-tommy-mcghee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/discipleship\/2017\/08\/30\/pastor-appreciation-day-article-bishop-tommy-mcghee\/","title":{"rendered":"Pastor Appreciation Day Article by Bishop Tommy McGhee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paul encouraged Timothy to \u201cmake full proof\u201d of his ministry in 2 Timothy 4:5 KJV. With these words, this young minister was challenged to demonstrate the true characteristics of a person and pastor who is called by God, and is obedient and faithful to Him. \u00a0A Pastors role is about being and doing.\u00a0 Pastors who fulfill the Biblical role, as demonstrated by our Lord and instructed by the Apostle Paul, should be acknowledged and honored by the church.\u00a0 Scripture admonishes us to know those who labor among us and to honor them. 1 Thessalonians 5:12 NIV says, \u201cNow we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.\u201d II Timothy 5:17 NIV says, \u201cThe elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.\u201d\u00a0 As we approach \u201cPastor Appreciation Day\u201d, I want you to consider the following acrostic for the word <em>PASTOR<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>P \u2013 Preacher \u2013 The preacher is to \u201c<strong>Exalt the Savior.<\/strong>\u201d Jesus said when we lift Him up, He will draw all men unto Him. Preaching is not about us, but about Him. He has been exalted and given a name that is above every name.<\/p>\n<p>A \u2013 Administrator \u2013 An administrator has the responsibility to \u201c<strong>Establish the Structure.<\/strong>\u201d Paul told Titus \u201cThe reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished.\u201d \u00a0A faithful pastor seeks to create a biblical structure so the church can stay on mission and be obedient to our Lord.<\/p>\n<p>S \u2013 Shepherd \u2013 The Shepherd should \u201c<strong>Encourage the Sheep<\/strong>.\u201d A loving shepherd will be faithful to feed and lead, to guard and guide the sheep under his care.<\/p>\n<p>T \u2013 Teacher \u2013 As a Teacher, the pastor must \u201c<strong>Equip the Saints<\/strong>.\u201d Ephesians 4 challenges the pastors and teachers to \u201cequip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O \u2013 Overseer \u2013 The Overseer must diligently and continually \u201c<strong>Examine the Spirits<\/strong>.\u201d Paul warned Timothy that in later times there would be \u201cdeceiving spirits\u201d I Timothy 4:1 NIV.\u00a0 John the beloved also reminded the church to \u201cnot believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world\u201d 1 John 4:1 NIV.<\/p>\n<p>R \u2013 Restorer \u2013 The Restorer should \u201c<strong>Extend the Staff<\/strong>.\u201d Pastors are always looking for lost sheep. In Luke 15, Jesus shares how the shepherd is not satisfied to have most of the sheep at the end of the day.\u00a0 A faithful shepherd is like his master who came to seek and to save the lost. Our Shepherd loves His sheep and wants us to find them. \u00a0The Shepherd\/Pastor goes out into the night to rescue and restore those who have wandered away from the fold.<\/p>\n<p>The work and burdens of these servants of God have never been greater. One of the greatest needs of pastors is for people who will join with him or her in the work of the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully you are asking \u201cwhat can I do to help my pastor?\u201d Below are just a few ideas that would mean so much to your spiritual leader:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pray for your pastor and family.<\/strong> There is no doubt that ministers are the target of satanic attack.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Examine your expectations.<\/strong> Far too often, people expect pastors to be everywhere and do everything for everyone. Let\u2019s make sure we are realistic in what we expect.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Find your place in ministry.<\/strong> Many churches are suffering from the lack of willing persons to help lead in ministry. A church full of needy, immature Christians is a \u201cfield to work in\u201d, but a church with leaders who are equipped for ministry is a \u201cforce to work with.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be the Christian you should be.<\/strong> Keep growing in the Lord and maintain a consistent life and witness. It is always encouraging for a pastor to hear of the Godly character of the people under his care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pastor Appreciation Day is simply a day set apart to give special honor to whom honor is due.\u00a0 Godly men and women who serve the Lord and His people in this special and sacred role are due to be honored. P - Predicador - El predicador es \" <strong>Exaltar al Salvador.<\/strong> \"Jes\u00fas dijo que cuando lo elevamos, \u00c9l atraer\u00e1 a todos a \u00c9l. La predicaci\u00f3n no es sobre nosotros, sino sobre \u00c9l. \u00c9l ha sido exaltado y se le ha dado un nombre que est\u00e1 por encima de todo nombre. A - Administrador - Un administrador tiene la responsabilidad de \" <strong>Establecer la Estructura.<\/strong> \"Pablo le dijo a Tito:\" La raz\u00f3n por la que te dej\u00e9 en Creta fue que pudieras poner en orden lo que quedaba sin terminar \". Un pastor fiel busca crear una estructura b\u00edblica para que la iglesia pueda permanecer en misi\u00f3n y ser obediente a nuestro Se\u00f1or. S - Pastor - El Pastor debe \" <strong>Alentar a las Ovejas<\/strong> .\" Un pastor amante ser\u00e1 fiel para alimentar y conducir, para guardar y guiar a las ovejas bajo su cuidado. T - Maestro - Como maestro, el pastor debe <strong>\u201cEquipar a los Santos\u201d<\/strong> Efesios 4 desaf\u00eda a los pastores y maestros para \u201cequipar a su gente para la obra de servicio, para que el cuerpo de Cristo sea edificado.\u201d O - Supervisor - El Supervisor debe diligentemente y continuamente \" <strong>Examinar los Esp\u00edritus<\/strong> \". Pablo advirti\u00f3 a Timoteo que en tiempos posteriores habr\u00eda \"esp\u00edritus enga\u00f1osos\" I Timoteo 4: 1 NVI. Juan el amado tambi\u00e9n le record\u00f3 a la iglesia que \"no creyese en todo esp\u00edritu, sino que probara a los esp\u00edritus para ver si proceden de Dios, porque muchos falsos profetas han salido al mundo\" 1 Juan 4: 1 NVI. R - Restaurador - El restaurador debe \" <strong>extender el personal<\/strong> \". Los pastores siempre est\u00e1n buscando ovejas perdidas. En Lucas 15, Jes\u00fas comparte c\u00f3mo el pastor no est\u00e1 satisfecho de tener la mayor\u00eda de las ovejas al final del d\u00eda. Un pastor fiel es como su maestro que vino a buscar y salvar a los perdidos. Nuestro pastor ama a sus ovejas y quiere que las encontremos. El Pastor \/ Pastor sale a la noche para rescatar y restaurar a aquellos que han vagado lejos del redil. El trabajo y las cargas de estos siervos de Dios nunca han sido mayores. Una de las mayores necesidades de los pastores es para las personas que se unan con \u00e9l o ella en el trabajo del ministerio. Espero que usted se est\u00e1 preguntando \"\u00bfqu\u00e9 puedo hacer para ayudar a mi pastor?\" A continuaci\u00f3n se presentan algunas ideas que significar\u00edan tanto para su l\u00edder espiritual:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Ore por su pastor y su familia.<\/strong> No hay duda de que los ministros son el blanco del ataque sat\u00e1nico.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Examine sus expectativas.<\/strong> Demasiado a menudo, la gente espera que los pastores est\u00e9n en todas partes y hagan todo para todos. Vamos a asegurarnos de que somos realistas en lo que esperamos.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Encuentra tu lugar en el ministerio.<\/strong> Muchas iglesias est\u00e1n sufriendo de la falta de personas dispuestas a ayudar a liderar en el ministerio. Una iglesia llena de cristianos necesitados e inmaduros es un \"campo para trabajar\", pero una iglesia con l\u00edderes que est\u00e1n equipados para el ministerio es una \"fuerza con la que trabajar\".<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>S\u00e9 el cristiano que debes ser.<\/strong> Sigan creciendo en el Se\u00f1or y mantengan una vida y un testimonio constantes. Siempre es alentador para un pastor o\u00edr hablar del car\u00e1cter divino de las personas bajo su cuidado.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nPastor Appreciation Day es simplemente un d\u00eda separado para dar un honor especial a quien se debe el honor. Los hombres y mujeres piadosos que sirven al Se\u00f1or ya Su pueblo en este papel especial y sagrado deben ser honrados.
