Located just outside of Houston, at Oasis of Hope PHC in Webster, Texas, the Kitchen has served 4,600 meals in just the first two days. For those of you who may not have any reference, when the Kitchen is deployed to a location, the various teams serve full meals; an entrée, one or two sides, and dessert. It’s not that we do not value the simple meals such as hamburgers or hot dogs; however, we feel that in challenging situations such as this, our patrons would appreciate a good, hearty meal.

The North Carolina cooking team and South Carolina grill team, with the assistance of numerous volunteers from Oasis of Hope, is planning to prepare 2,600 meals per day for the next week; 1,200 hot meals for lunch and another 1,400 for supper. Most of the meals are being transported to Dickinson and Southeast Houston and delivered by our volunteers door-to-door.

Please pray for our volunteers, particularly those who are involved with delivery. Houston is hot and humid, and our volunteers are experiencing it firsthand.

DRUSA has also deployed the Oklahoma City Mobile Feeding Kitchen to Webster. Due to the nature of this deployment, the majority of meals that are prepared are being transported to the surrounding areas and delivered to workers and residents in neighborhoods who have already started the clean up and restoration process. Once our teams prepare the meals, the food is placed in aluminum trays which are then placed in cambros (large storage containers) to help keep the food hot during transport. In addition, large coolers are filled with ice and water. Because so much time is spent delivering meals to local residents, we did not want the number of meals that we serve each day to drop, so the Oklahoma City team will help the teams already on site to meet the daily 2,600 meal goal.

If you would like to contribute to the relief process, you can make your check payable to DRUSA and send it to:
DRUSA
Project 02261p
P O Box 270420
Oklahoma City, OK 73137

Or, you may give online by clicking this link: https://give.iphc.org/discipleship/224378.

For more information on Disaster Relief USA (DRUSA) efforts, click here!

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

119,25,20,4,1,27,15,446,37,3
300,297,696,707
0":"post-3319","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-benevolent-ministries","8":"category-boys-ministries","9":"category-childrens-ministries","10":"category-discipleship-ministries","11":"category-general","12":"category-girls-ministries-childrens-ministries","13":"category-mens-ministries","14":"category-phpp","15":"category-womens-ministries","16":"category-youth-ministries","17":"tag-disaster-relief","18":"tag-drusa","19":"tag-hurricane-harvey","20":"tag-texas","21":"entry
Huracán Harvey Actualización- En el suelo en Houston

La Cocina de Alimentación Móvil de DRUSA ha estado en pleno apogeo desde el domingo por la mañana, 3 de septiembre.
