The 67th annual Feast of Ingathering for Emmanuel College took place this weekend, October 3-5, on the Emmanuel campus in Franklin Springs, GA.

Many IPHC leaders were present throughout the event, including IPHC Women’s Ministries Officials, as well as IPHC Directors who are also EC alumni. The weekend’s events ranged from a worship concert led by EC students and alumni, a morning run through Franklin Springs, and a Sunday morning service to celebrate the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church’s own Homecoming Weekend.

The EC Feast of Ingathering is proud to announce that over $69,000 was raised to benefit the future projects of Emmanuel College. “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the ladies of the IPHC,” says Dr. Ron White, EC’s Interim President. “Each year they faithfully bring their offerings to campus. Never in our history have these offerings been more important. The need at Emmanuel is critical and the gifts by our Women’s Ministries ladies help enormously. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude.”

“Emmanuel College first opened on January 1, 1919, under the name of Franklin Springs Institute. During its first year, the institution offered the first 11 grades of school and a Biblical Department for prospective ministers. During the Great Depression the school temporarily was closed, however in 1933 the school was reopened as a high school and junior college, with the Reverend Thomas Lee Aaron as president. Under President Aaron’s leadership, the school gradually progressed from a small community school to a modern, influential junior college. In 1939, the name of the institution was changed to Emmanuel, meaning “God with us.”

Along with the growth of its academic programs and physical plant has been a concomitant emphasis on religious and spiritual values. Emmanuel finds much of its justification for existence in its purpose of offering education of high academic quality in a Christian environment. The successful performance of students who have completed Emmanuel’s degree programs and later transferred to other institutions of higher learning reflects the quality of Emmanuel’s academic efforts. The lives of EC alumni speak of the quality of the Christian academic opportunities they have received. Through its program of Christian higher education, Emmanuel College has attempted to provide students with academic and spiritual values that will enrich their lives and lead them to enrich the lives of others in the highest Christian tradition.” (www.ec.edu)
