It is fascinating to consider the detail of the assignments. The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari, and their clans were given very specific responsibilities.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-2\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-2-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-2-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>\u201cAt the tent of meeting the Gershonites were responsible for the care of the tabernacle and tent, its coverings, the curtain at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the curtains of the courtyard, the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard surrounding the tabernacle and altar, and the ropes--and everything related to their use.\u201d \u00a0[Num 3:25-26 NIV]<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-3\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-3\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-3-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-3-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>(The Kohathites) \u201cwere responsible for the care of the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the articles of the sanctuary used in ministering, the curtain, and everything related to their use.\u201d \u00a0[Num 3:31 NIV]<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-4\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-4\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-4-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-4-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"4\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>\u201cThe Merarites were appointed to take care of the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, posts, bases, all its equipment, and everything related to their use, as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs and ropes.\u201d \u00a0[Num 3:36-37 NIV]<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-5\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-5\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-5-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-5-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"5\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>As I\u2019ve read through those passages over the years, I\u2019ve wondered if the Gershonites and the Merarites were ever jealous that they didn\u2019t have the assignment to care for the ark and the other articles of the sanctuary used in ministering to the Lord. After all, the ark was holy. It was associated with the presence of God. The sons of Gershon and Merari may well have thought they were worthy of much more than the care of the more common articles of the Tabernacle. But that was not their assignment. The Lord had assigned those duties to Kohath\u2019s clan.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-6\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-6\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-6-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-6-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"6\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-9871-6-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>Is it possible that someone ever asked, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we ever get to carry the ark? Why do we have to be the ones to carry the tent pegs?\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-7\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-7\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-7-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-7-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"7\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>We are not immune to the temptation to look beyond our current assignments and wonder why... \u00a0As worship leaders, we can also fall into the trap of the \u201cif onlys.\u201d \u00a0\u201cIf only I could be invited to lead worship at that church or that event.\u201d \u00a0\u201cIf only I could get that person to hear my song.\u201d \u00a0\u201cLord, I could really make an impact for you if only you would open up that door for me.\u201d \u00a0It sounds rather egocentric, doesn\u2019t it? And the enemy of our souls will try to use those \u201cif onlys\u201d to hamstring us in our present places of ministry.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-8\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-8\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-8-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-8-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"8\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-9871-8-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>We must be careful. There is a devastating decline that can follow when we give place to these kinds of thoughts. Disappointment may lead to discouragement; discouragement may lead to dejection; dejection may lead to detachment; and detachment may lead to disqualification.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-9\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-9\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-9-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-9-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"9\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-9871-9-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>Beware of the decline.\n<\/div>\n<div>Disappointment&gt;Discouragement&gt;Dejection&gt;Detachment&gt;Disqualification<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-9871-10\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-has-style ingpb-standard-row\" ><div data-full-row=\"yes\" class=\"panel-row-style panel-row-style-for-9871-10\" ><div id=\"pgc-9871-10-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-9871-10-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_sow-editor panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"10\" ><div class=\"panel-widget-style panel-widget-style-for-9871-10-0-0\" ><div\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tclass=\"so-widget-sow-editor so-widget-sow-editor-base\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<div>\n<div>Instead, be faithful where you are. Embrace your assignment with your whole heart. You cannot show the Lord your faithfulness in a place you have not yet been assigned. You can only show your faithfulness where you are. Dr. Tuttle\u2019s songs have been recorded by influential worship leaders like Don Moen, Paul Wilbur, Bob Fitts, John Chisum, Aline Barros, Robin Mark, Juanita Bynum and Judy Jacobs.
