Chris Thompson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was my pleasure and delight to preside over the annual meeting of the South Carolina Conference.\u00a0 The meeting was held at their auditorium in Lake City, S.C.\u00a0 The Conference Bishop is Greg Amos.\u00a0 He did a superb job in planning, preparing, and executing the conference.\u00a0 Some 350 plus attended.\u00a0 This included 176 clergy, 58 pastors\u2019 spouses, and 47 church delegates.\u00a0 The remainder were guests.<\/p>\n<p>The conference began with a leadership processional sharply at 9:00 am.\u00a0 Several special guests were present:<\/p>\n<p>Former superintendents \u2013<\/p>\n<p>Doug and Frances Amos<\/p>\n<p>M. Donald Duncan<\/p>\n<p>Rabon Stewart (Alpha Conference)<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Jewelle Stewart \u2013 Former Women\u2019s Ministry Director (General Church)<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Tame Lambert \u2013 Former Women\u2019s Ministry Director (General Church)<\/p>\n<p>Carl &amp; Cammilla Surkie &#8211;\u00a0 Former IPHC Missionaries<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ron White \u2013 Emmanuel College President<\/p>\n<p>David Parker \u2013 President of IPHC Extension Loan Fund<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Chris Thompson \u2013 President Elect \u2013 Holmes Bible College (Oklahoma)<\/p>\n<p>Paul &amp; Mary Howell \u2013 Former IPHC Discipleship Director<\/p>\n<p>Wayne Powell \u2013 SC Teen Challenge (General Church)<\/p>\n<p>Hector Sanchez \u2013 General Hispanic Board Member<\/p>\n<p>Those who were not members of the South Carolina Conference were given a seat and voice in the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>After my introduction, I gave a devotion in two parts.\u00a0 During the first part, I shared remarks around the 2017 Theme \u2013 We Prayerfully Value Christ\u2019s Kingdom.\u00a0 The second part centered around the thought \u2013 \u201cWe are Better Together \u2013 Generations Working Together.\u201d\u00a0 Both parts seem to be well received.<\/p>\n<p>The Decorum and Examining Reports were read and approved.\u00a0 Those licensed were:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Angel Carl Alba (away on Run for the Wall)<\/li>\n<li>Carl Hightower Black<\/li>\n<li>Nathan Harry Cooper<\/li>\n<li>Brian Winston Gardner II<\/li>\n<li>Caleb Earl Henderson (grandson of Chaplain Jerry Henderson)<\/li>\n<li>Brandon Scott Martin<\/li>\n<li>Linda Ann Moore<\/li>\n<li>Russell Elijah Moss<\/li>\n<li>Nettie Catherin Stone<\/li>\n<li>Dennis Areol Williams<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two were ordained:<\/p>\n<p>Michael Christopher Cantey<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Charles Gause<\/p>\n<p>Each of the Executive Council members gave a written report.\u00a0 A motion was passed to receive these with appreciation.\u00a0 They were excellent reports!\u00a0 The Council Members have served well.\u00a0 The District Elders should also be praised for their work.\u00a0South Carolina has an excellent structure.<\/p>\n<p>Rev. H. Larry Jones read the Memoirs Committee Report. Some 15 warriors of the faith had completed their earthly journey.\u00a0 Rev. Carter Jr., 88<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>November 20, 1928 \u2013 April 19, 2017<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Margaret Eloise Swails Stewart, 90<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>October 19, 2016 \u2013 April 22, 2017<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Greg Amos chose to give his report primarily by use of video.\u00a0 It was an excellent report.\u00a0 The South Carolina Conference continues to move forward.\u00a0 Finances are up.\u00a0 A good number are being saved and discipled into the church.\u00a0 He has an excellent team to work with him.<\/p>\n<p>In the last two years, the conference was hit with two major challenges.\u00a0 There was a \u201c1,000-year flood\u201d and then in late September 2016, Hurricane Matthew hit.\u00a0 In both occasions, the conference offices were flooded and had to undergo renovation.\u00a0 The South Carolina leaders and people are resilient.\u00a0 They are to be commended!\u00a0 The offices are repaired and functional again.\u00a0 I say, \u201cWell done, Bishop Amos and Praise the Lord!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rev. Mrs. Phyllis Underwood gave an oral report on the finances.\u00a0 She is the Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer.\u00a0 The report showed excellent stewardship, faithfulness, and commitment on behalf of the ministers and churches.\u00a0 It was my pleasure to express appreciation on behalf of the Global Ministry Center.\u00a0\u00a0 In the midst of great challenges, the Conference honored all commitments.<\/p>\n<p>Three ministers were honored with retirement plaques:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Julian Boles Jr.<\/li>\n<li>Wilma B. Morris<\/li>\n<li>Reginald L. Thames, Jr.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rev. Pastor Jimmy Floyd was given a service pin for fifty-one years of service.<\/p>\n<p>At various times, several representatives from institutions spoke.\u00a0 They spoke well. All those present enjoyed the presentation and rejoiced at the progress being made.<\/p>\n<p>These were:<\/p>\n<p>Ron White \u2013 Emmanuel College<\/p>\n<p>David Parker \u2013 Loan Fund<\/p>\n<p>Wayne Powell \u2013 Teen Challenge<\/p>\n<p>Chris Thompson \u2013 Holmes Bible College<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A video was shown about Falcon\u2019s Children\u2019s Home and the new children\u2019s home at Tuberville, South Carolina.\u00a0 Everyone was excited and offered enthusiastic praise for the new children\u2019s home.\u00a0 (I am thrilled!)<\/p>\n<p>I did enjoy this conference!\u00a0 I have known and worked with my friend, Greg Amos, for many years.\u00a0 He is a great visionary and hard working.\u00a0 At the end of his report, he showed the theme video and the one for General Conference.\u00a0 He promoted both.\u00a0 He then had the District Elders to bring up soil from their districts.\u00a0 A time of prayer occurred for fruit and multiplied fruit.\u00a0 All fruit comes from the blessings of the Lord, hard work, AND good soil.\u00a0 This soil will be carried to Orlando for the Bishop\u2019s Project on Friday night of General Conference.\u00a0 It was an awesome time in the Lord.\u00a0 During the prayer time, special prayers were offered for the sick, etc.\u00a0 I was moved to tears and praise to see the Council and Elders surround their own Bishop.\u00a0 God is at work.<\/p>\n<p>After the conference, I believe <u>everyone<\/u> went to \u201cThe Schoolhouse\u201d for South Carolina BBQ and good home cooking.\u00a0 I know I was there (as a guest of Bishop Amos).\u00a0 Hey, we believe in a double blessing \u2013 we had shrimp and grits on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"excerpt","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":855,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","episode_type":"","audio_file":"","cover_image":"","cover_image_id":"","duration":"","filesize":"","date_recorded":"","explicit":"","block":"","filesize_raw":"","jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[313,330,87,318,94,462],"class_list":{"0":"post-1332","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-general","8":"tag-313","9":"tag-annual-conference","10":"tag-conference-report","11":"tag-may","12":"tag-recap","13":"tag-south-carolina","14":"entry"},"title_es":"Informe Anual de la Conferencia Anual de Spirit Life Ministries 2017","content_es":"<strong>Por Dr. AD Beacham, Jr., Presidente<\/strong> Durante m\u00e1s de cien a\u00f1os los ministros y congregaciones de la Iglesia Internacional de Santidad Pentecostal (IPHC) se han reunido en el estado de Carolina del Sur para hacer el negocio de la IPHC. Originario de Panam\u00e1, el Rev. Herrera ha llevado a varios ministros y congregaciones hispanas a la conferencia. Hab\u00eda un contingente de 25 hermanos hispanos y hermanas presentes para la conferencia. Mons. Boggs dio un informe exhaustivo de contabilidad financiera a la conferencia. En 2016 el diezmo de la iglesia local fue de $ 382,344.96. El aumento reflej\u00f3 que 28 congregaciones locales hab\u00edan aumentado su diezmo de 2015 a 2016. El diezmo de los ministros en 2015 fue $ 392,312.04 y en 2016 fue $ 382,146.98 para una ligera disminuci\u00f3n. Al finalizar el servicio de ordenaci\u00f3n, se celebr\u00f3 una oraci\u00f3n especial para el Rev. Michael Jarrard, quien estaba recibiendo tratamiento m\u00e9dico en un hospital local.
