Chris Thompson<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bishop Manuel Pate planned an excellent agenda for the 2017 Annual Conference of the Tennessee Valley Conference, July 14, 2017.\u00a0 The theme of the conference was the \u201cOne Day\u201d Festival from Psalm 84:10: \u201cBetter is ONE DAY in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.\u201d\u00a0 The meeting was held at the Compassion Church (formerly Christian Heritage) in Germantown, Tennessee (a suburb of Memphis).\u00a0 The pastor is Rev. Derrick Gardner.\u00a0 Some 50+ delegates were present.<\/p>\n<p>I am always blessed and encouraged to be in the presence of Bishop Manuel Pate.\u00a0 I enjoyed the fellowship.\u00a0 On this trip, I was especially blessed to be with Pastor Derrick Gardner.\u00a0 We have known each other for many years.\u00a0 Derrick has a gift of hospitality.\u00a0 He has expertly trained his staff with the same focus.<\/p>\n<p>We were blessed at the Conference with four special people:<\/p>\n<p>David Parker \u2013 President of the IPHC Extension Loan Fund<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Terry Tramel \u2013 WMM Director of Global Outreach and Leadership Development<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Pickens \u2013 Discipleship Ministries Council Member and Director of Hope4Sudan (Memphis is home for her.)<\/p>\n<p>Lemuel Turner \u2013 newly appointed missionary to Wales<\/p>\n<p>The Conference began at\u00a09am\u00a0with worship led by Steven Akindona.\u00a0 He is a second-generation immigrant from Lagos, Nigeria.\u00a0 The worship was excellent. I gave a devotion on \u201cWe Prayerfully Value Christ\u2019s Kingdom\u201d after viewing the same titled themed video.\u00a0 Both were well received.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Pate presented The State of the Conference Report by PowerPoint presentation.\u00a0 The report was excellent.\u00a0 The Conference has 25 churches and 65 clergy. Two new churches were planted last year.\u00a0 These were recognized with EVUSA pins.\u00a0 The conference is expanding.\u00a0 The vision of Bishop Pate is contagious and powerful.\u00a0 Several potential Hispanic pastors were present at the meeting.\u00a0 Bishop Pate has boldly opened the door to other ethnic groups.\u00a0Dr. Luis Avila from the Global Ministries Center has been of great assistance with Hispanic Ministries.<\/p>\n<p>The Compassion Network led by Director Josh Hannah has been very instrumental in the growth of Tennessee Valley.\u00a0 He is the evangelism director and assistant superintendent of the conference.\u00a0 The Compassion Network approach is phenomenal.\u00a0 Pastor Derrick Gardner is regional director of Compassion.\u00a0 His training and experience in coaching has greatly added to the success of Compassion Network. (Director Josh is available to assist with other conferences.\u00a0 He should be called upon.)\u00a0 Here are some of Compassion\u2019s facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eight Compassion Churches<\/li>\n<li>Easter Attendance \u2013 4,097 with 226 salvations<\/li>\n<li>Director Hannah has raised over $200,000<\/li>\n<li>Hope Center Ministries (since beginnings)\n<ul>\n<li>1,771 admissions<\/li>\n<li>522 graduates<\/li>\n<li>10 Centers (7 in Tennessee, 1 in Texas, 1 in Virginia, 1 in Wales)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I say \u2013 Praise the Lord!!!<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer Shonna Scholes gave the Finance Report.\u00a0 The report was a good one with progress. The Conference is on a good foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Three individuals were granted license. These were:<\/p>\n<p>Bill Flores<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Flores<\/p>\n<p>Carlos Miranda<\/p>\n<p>David Parker translated for me.\u00a0 I felt totally at ease with a Parker by my side.\u00a0 John Parker, David\u2019s dad, stood with me for nearly 20 years.\u00a0 David did a phenomenal job.\u00a0 I am always blessed to watch the expressions of Hispanics when David begins to speak Spanish.\u00a0 He speaks as a native.\u00a0 He grew up in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p>Several groups gave special reports at the Conference:<\/p>\n<p>Compassion Network \u2013 Josh Hannah<\/p>\n<p>Extension Loan Fund \u2013 David Parker<\/p>\n<p>Global Outreach \u2013 Dr. Terry Tramel<\/p>\n<p>Hope4Sudan \u2013 Lauren Pickens<\/p>\n<p>Missionary to Wales \u2013 Lemuel Turner<\/p>\n<p>Holmes Bible College \u2013 Chris Thompson<\/p>\n<p>The business part of the Conference ended with a Conference-hosted luncheon at Piccadilly Cafeteria.\u00a0 The food and fellowship was outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon, Bishop Pate presented an excellent and anointed teaching on \u201cGod\u2019s 3 Great Expectations.\u201d\u00a0 Every Bishop needs a copy of his PowerPoints.<\/p>\n<p>I was blessed and honored to preach in the evening Celebration Service.\u00a0 The Global Outreach Offering was received.\u00a0 A good offering of over $14,000.00 was received.\u00a0 Dr. Tramel spoke on the World Missions GO and I spoke on the EVUSA GO.\u00a0 Both presentations were well received.\u00a0 Dr. Terry Tramel is doing an excellent job for World Missions.\u00a0 He not only makes excellent presentations, but he gets to know the people.<\/p>\n<p>During the morning conference and evening service, soil was placed in a container for prayer.\u00a0 Soil was placed from the four states of Tennessee Valley \u2013 Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas.\u00a0 The people responded to the leadership of Bishop Pate.\u00a0 Several anointed prayers were offered. (The\u00a0Friday\u00a0night of General Conference will be miraculous.)\u00a0 Thank you, Bishop Beacham, for obeying the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>I thoroughly enjoyed the Conference.\u00a0 As far as I know, this will be my last conference as a sitting general bishop.\u00a0 It has been a real, pleasant, and exciting journey for me to work with the conference bishops and their conferences.\u00a0 I do love this ministry. La conferencia se hab\u00eda reunido durante varias noches de servicios que condujeron a la sesi\u00f3n anual. Pude asistir al culto de adoraci\u00f3n del viernes por la noche y todos \u00e9ramos bendecidos por la predicaci\u00f3n ungida del reverendo Steve Ely. Despu\u00e9s de su informe, el obispo Drake reconoci\u00f3 al Dr. Phil Sallee, director de la conferencia Escuela de Ministerio. 15 hombres y mujeres fueron reconocidos por el Dr. Sallee por completar el programa de SOM.
