{"id":2582,"date":"2018-07-20T21:45:15","date_gmt":"2018-07-20T21:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/gso\/?p=2582"},"modified":"2018-07-20T21:45:15","modified_gmt":"2018-07-20T21:45:15","slug":"passion-connection-mid-south-quadrennial-conference-report-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/gso\/2018\/07\/20\/passion-connection-mid-south-quadrennial-conference-report-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Passion Connection\/Mid-South Quadrennial Conference Report 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Tommy McGhee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was my pleasure to serve as the presiding officer for the Passion Connection Conference Quadrennial Session, held near Baton Rouge, Louisiana, May 31-June 2, 2018. Rev. Michael Smith served as the host for the day\u2019s activities. Our opening session was held Friday morning with a time of worship and sharing of the Word by Bishop Gordon Atwell. Bishop Atwell shared the following information regarding the conference: 18 churches totaling 3,200 members, 69 ordained ministers, 2 licensed ministers, and 10 local church licensed ministers. The financial report was also given to the delegates present.\u00a0\u00a0As in other conferences, I presented our core value, &#8220;We Prayerfully Value All Generations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We began elections before our lunch break. Each of the following were re-elected to serve by acclamation: Bishop Gordon Atwell, superintendent; Rev. Kelvin Stuart, assistant superintendent; Rev. Dewayne Williams, secretary\/treasurer, and council members at large Rev. Michael Smith and Rev. Ricky Sinclair. Congratulations to these men as they lead the conference into the future. These leaders came together near the conclusion of the business session and pledged their support to Bishop Gordon Atwell and their commitment to see the conference move forward in a new way. Under Miscellaneous Business, a motion was offered to change the name of the conference to its previous name, Mid-South Conference. After discussion, the motion was adopted by a narrow margin. Bishop Atwell led a training session on the \u201cHouse Church\u201d movement and the strategy he is utilizing with the local church where he serves as pastor.<\/p>\n<p>An evening service was held in which I was blessed to preach to the congregation, and honored to lead in the ordination of Amber Roy Burger. Many of you will remember that she is the daughter of our IPHC missionaries Rev. Fue un privilegio para m\u00ed servir en la conferencia como su presidente. Siempre es una alegr\u00eda trabajar con el obispo Greg Amos, quien siempre tiene un horario y una agenda bien organizados. La inscripci\u00f3n comenz\u00f3 con 385 delegados registrados. Varios m\u00e1s fueron agregados durante la sesi\u00f3n de la ma\u00f1ana. Luego de una bienvenida e introducci\u00f3n por parte del obispo Amos, compart\u00ed una presentaci\u00f3n de valores centrales. Luego de la adopci\u00f3n del Informe del Comit\u00e9 de Decoro, la conferencia recibi\u00f3 y acept\u00f3 el Informe del Comit\u00e9 de Ex\u00e1menes. Dieciocho candidatos fueron aprobados para la Licencia de Ministro, y tres fueron recomendados para la ordenaci\u00f3n. Se comparti\u00f3 un memorable Informe de Memorias seguido de un momento de silencio, despu\u00e9s del cual el Obispo Amos dirigi\u00f3 la oraci\u00f3n. Tuve la bendici\u00f3n de dirigir el Servicio de Ordenaci\u00f3n de Eileen Croft Gunnells, Timmie Ray Hunt y Manuel E. Flores. El Obispo Amos comparti\u00f3 un excelente Informe del Estado de la Conferencia en el que afirm\u00f3: \"La Conferencia de Carolina del Sur es una familia especial. Nos regocijamos juntos cuando uno de nuestros miembros se regocija. Y lamentamos cuando uno se aflige. Nos ayudamos unos a otros y nos animamos mutuamente. \u00a1Estamos realmente mejor juntos! Creo que los mejores d\u00edas de la Conferencia de Carolina del Sur est\u00e1n por delante, no por detr\u00e1s. \u00a1Que el Esp\u00edritu del Se\u00f1or renueve el fuego fresco del Esp\u00edritu Santo sobre todos nuestros ministros e iglesias! \u00a1Que podamos presenciar la presencia y el poder innegables de Dios, en el pueblo de Dios cumpliendo los prop\u00f3sitos de Dios en medio de nosotros! \"La Secretaria \/ Tesorera de la Conferencia, Rev. Phyllis Underwood, comparti\u00f3 un Informe Financiero detallado. La conferencia luego comenz\u00f3 a considerar el Informe del Comit\u00e9 de Estatutos. Despu\u00e9s de la adopci\u00f3n de las partes relacionadas con los oficiales de la conferencia, comenz\u00f3 el proceso de elecci\u00f3n.
