At the Last Supper, Jesus shared the bread and the cup with His disciples, saying, \u201cDo this in remembrance of me\u201d (Luke 22:19, NKJV). The Apostle Paul encouraged this practice of the \u201cLord\u2019s Supper\u201d in the churches he planted, reminding the Corinthians that \u201cas often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord\u2019s death till He comes\u201d (1 Corinthians 11:26, NKJV). The IPHC affirms the Lord\u2019s Supper, or Communion, as an ordinance of the church and a powerful, active proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

In particular, the Lord\u2019s Supper is a powerful sign of Christ\u2019s atonement for sin in His death. The IPHC believes in divine healing as in the atonement, so it seems fitting that we should observe the Lord\u2019s Supper all the more in these times. Yet celebrating the Supper seems all but impossible in our days, as churches are unable to gather physically together.<\/p>\n

Remember, though, that we have not ceased to be the Body of Christ, the one loaf symbolized by the bread of the Lord\u2019s Supper, because we are separated. Social distancing is not spiritual distancing, and the Body of Christ is a spiritual reality that transcends time and space. Though we have encouraged churches to move their worship gatherings online, we believe a churchwide celebration of the Lord\u2019s Supper could be a powerful testimony to Christ\u2019s atonement, and a powerful enacted prayer for the healing of our world.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, March 22, at 7pm Eastern time, please join Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham, Bishop Tommy McGhee, Bishop Talmadge Gardner, and Bishop Garry Bryant in a live celebration of the Lord\u2019s Supper for the IPHC. As priests in your home, prepare your juice and bread beforehand, gather your family, and participate with us.<\/p>\n

\u00danase a los Obispos Ejecutivos de IPHC<\/em> para una celebraci\u00f3n de la Cena del Se\u00f1or<\/em> Domingo, 22 de marzo de 2020<\/em> 7 p.m. Este \/ 6 p.m.Central \/ 5 p.m. monta\u00f1a \/ 4 p.m. Pac\u00edfico<\/em><\/p>\r\nEn la \u00daltima Cena, Jes\u00fas comparti\u00f3 el pan y la copa con sus disc\u00edpulos, diciendo: \"Haced esto en memoria m\u00eda\" (Lucas 22:19, NKJV). El ap\u00f3stol Pablo alent\u00f3 esta pr\u00e1ctica de la \"Cena del Se\u00f1or\" en las iglesias que \u00e9l plant\u00f3, recordando a los corintios que \"tan a menudo como comes este pan y bebes esta copa, proclamas la muerte del Se\u00f1or hasta que \u00e9l venga\" (1 Corintios 11:26 , NKJV).
