The Ascension is more than a prelude or introduction to Pentecost. While it sets the stage for Pentecost, it does so from the perspective of heaven preparing to touch earth through the body of Christ and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. The Ascension becomes the staging ground for speaking more clearly about the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the purpose of Spirit-baptism is empowerment for witnessing about Christ.<\/p>\n
