Dr. Harold Hunter spent one week in late May 2015 working in the Bishop JH King house in Franklin Springs, Georgia. The photos that accompany this post gave one an idea of how much archival material has been rescued from the home. And there is more to come, but a word of thanks must be given to Sue Carr and her family who unearthed these IPHC treasures.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hunter was able to return to Oklahoma City with several unique archival materials from the JH King home. The attached photos show select samples of what will now be preserved by the IPHC Archives & Research Center. It should be noted that Bishop King had previously been ordained by the Fire-Baptized Holiness Church as he initially served as Ruling Elder then General Overseer up until the 1911 merger with the Pentecostal Holiness Church.<\/p>\n

Bishop JH King is the most researched IPHC figure by scholars outside the IPHC. Now when researchers call on us for material once thought lost to eternity, we can offer an incredible number of photos in addition to handwritten and previously unseen manuscripts along with Bishop King\u2019s personal library. One book in King\u2019s library came from BH Irwin, the founder of the Fire-Baptized Holiness Church.<\/p>\n

Some of the handwritten materials by Bishop King are too fragile to handle. Therefore, we invite those who support the ministry of JH King to consider a $1,000 contribution to the IPHC Archives & Research Center Heritage Society. All money in this fund is used to professionally treat fragile IPHC materials by Etherington Conservatory in Greensboro, NC.
