Chris Thompson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>July 14 \u2013 15, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas Latin is like several conferences now that have a \u201cfamily conference.\u201d\u00a0 Thursday, July 14<sup>th<\/sup> was a day that the kids, youth, Men\u2019s Ministry, and Women\u2019s Ministry met in separate tracks.\u00a0 Friday, July 15, was a day of training and business.\u00a0 The kids and youth continued to meet as well.<\/p>\n<p>The attendance at the meetings was fantastic.\u00a0 Here are the results:\u00a0 76 kids, 208 youth, 72 men, and 148 women.\u00a0 During the actual conference, some 143 were registered delegates.<\/p>\n<p>The meetings were held at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos, Texas.\u00a0 This is an excellent place for such a meeting.\u00a0 The Texas Latin team had made phenomenal preparation.\u00a0 Every detail had been carefully planned.\u00a0 The Conference Secretary David Trevino and his son, Jason, led the preparations.\u00a0 Jason had formed a team of millennials and youth to help. Their work was beyond imagination.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop David Avila did an excellent job in leading the meeting.\u00a0 His Council was present and with him every step of the way.\u00a0 Bishop Avila has a vision for the future.\u00a0 In his State of the Conference and at other opportunities, he spoke of church planting and uniting all the generations.\u00a0 His words were verified with actions.<\/p>\n<p>Four people were ordained on Friday afternoon.\u00a0 These were Guillermo Hernandez, Lindolfo Mireles, Jaime Jaimes, and Eliseo Vasquez.\u00a0 One was licensed. \u00a0She was Blanca Hernandez.\u00a0 Ten received a Local Church certificate.<\/p>\n<p>Two items of business were discussed and decided.\u00a0 Both were resolutions from prior conferences.\u00a0 It was decided to not purchase a conference office at this time.\u00a0 It was also decided to investigate the cost of changing the Conference\u2019s name.\u00a0 (Most agree that the name of the Conference needs to be changed to reflect greater diversity.\u00a0 It is a matter of time.)<\/p>\n<p>I always greatly enjoy attending the Texas Latin activities.\u00a0 I arrived on Wednesday in time to enjoy a delicious (and spicy) dinner with the Council.\u00a0 On Thursday morning I was able to speak in the Men\u2019s Ministry meeting.\u00a0 Both Bill Terry, National Director, and David Moore, National Royal Ranger Commander, were present.\u00a0 On Thursday night, I was invited to speak to the Men and Women in a camp meeting type service.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday morning I presented the theme \u2013 We Prayerfully Value Holiness.\u00a0 It was well received.\u00a0 In the afternoon I did a workshop on church finances and led in the Ordination\/License service.<\/p>\n<p>Rev. Fernando Angulo, Hispanic director of the North Carolina Conference, was present as a presenter.\u00a0 He did a workshop on Friday afternoon and preached on Friday night.\u00a0 He was mightily anointed and well received.<\/p>\n<p>I was also able to speak Friday night at the Deborah\u2019s Daughters Banquet.\u00a0 The banquet was well attended.\u00a0 Director Lydia Trevino does an excellent job.\u00a0 Every conference needs a Deborah\u2019s Daughters organization to encourage the female clergy.<\/p>\n<p>My translator for the event was Mario Ayala.\u00a0 He is excellent.\u00a0 We have worked together before.\u00a0 Mario also serves on the National EVUSA Council.<\/p>\n<p>While the adults were meeting both days, 208 youth were having their own services.\u00a0 The kids also had a separate meeting.\u00a0 It was truly a family meeting!\u00a0 I understand both of these venues were blessed with a powerful anointing.<\/p>\n<p>Several special guests were present and were given a seat and voice in the Conference.\u00a0 They were:<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Scott Hampton of Great Plains<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Dennis Hartley of Great Plains, Assistant Superintendent<\/p>\n<p>Carlos and Nuria Bala\u00f1os, missionaries to Hawaii<\/p>\n<p>Rev. Fernando Angulo of North Carolina<\/p>\n<p>I am always blessed and greatly encouraged when I attend the Texas Latin Conference.\u00a0 They are positioned for greater ministry.\u00a0 They are leaders with a desire to reach the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> generation Hispanics.\u00a0 May they be blessed.<\/p>\n<p>I was given the opportunity to stay over and preach at the Oasis Church in Taylor, Texas.\u00a0 The church is pastored by Rev.
