Forty years have passed since Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge killed more than two million people in an attempt to establish a Communist agrarian utopia, but the legacy of those holocaust years can still be observed in a severe lack of infrastructure, education, opportunity, and hope. Fewer than 1% of Cambodians know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Russell helped organize and lead a ministry team to Cambodia to hold a series of medical clinics in several villages. In one location, we were forced to shut down by local officials. The authoritarian Buddhist government closely monitors and sometimes restricts the activities of Christians.<\/p>\n<p>In other villages, the authorities sent local police and doctors to observe us, but these came away impressed by the expertise and kindness of our team. They even joined in the work, and invited us to come back!<\/p>\n<p>Young mothers were grateful to receive vitamins and medicines for their children's illnesses, while the elderly were overjoyed to receive reading glasses. In addition to offering basic medical care and words of hope and encouragement, team members also prayed for the patients who sought their help. We are proud to say that our grandson Alex was a part of this dynamic team!<\/p>\n<p>The children enjoyed playing outdoor games, making crafts, listening to Bible stories, learning gospel songs, and just having fun! Best of all, the children learned to pray to Jesus, and had the opportunity to offer their lives to Him!<\/p>\n<p>In years past, we have invested time, effort, and funding in similar trips, aiding pioneer works and digging wells for villages. Pray that the youth will be equipped to serve the Lord and bring prosperity to their nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pray for the missionary who leads our work in Cambodia, Rev. Merlen Lamanilao from the Philippines. Pray for her financial support and for her teenage daughter who will soon graduate from high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pray for upcoming trips to Thailand and Nepal, for safe travels and effective ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Our financial support has fallen off, hampering our ability to travel and minister. Jap\u00f3n tiene la tasa de suicidio infantil m\u00e1s alta del mundo. Se ejerce tanta presi\u00f3n sobre los ni\u00f1os para tener \u00e9xito en la escuela que sienten que no pueden hacer frente y deciden que la \u00fanica soluci\u00f3n es terminar con sus vidas. Estamos muy agradecidos de que trabaje con nosotros para compartir el amor y la esperanza de Dios con los ni\u00f1os y j\u00f3venes japoneses, mostr\u00e1ndoles que pueden encontrar esperanza en Cristo cada d\u00eda. Leemos la historia de Jes\u00fas alimentando a los cinco mil en nuestra clase de conversaci\u00f3n en ingl\u00e9s. Los ni\u00f1os nunca antes hab\u00edan escuchado la historia y se sorprendieron al saber que realmente sucedi\u00f3. Pudimos compartir con los ni\u00f1os que as\u00ed como Jes\u00fas us\u00f3 lo que el ni\u00f1o ten\u00eda para ofrecer para alimentar a cinco mil personas, Dios puede usar lo que le demos para ayudarnos a nosotros y a las personas que nos rodean. Ore con nosotros para que estos ni\u00f1os y sus padres aprendan que pueden volverse a Cristo con todas sus necesidades.\r\n\r\nDisfrutamos tener a Abigail Bishop aqu\u00ed para una pasant\u00eda de Holmes Bible College durante dos meses. Ella pudo experimentar la cultura japonesa de primera mano, as\u00ed como asistir a nuestra iglesia japonesa y ayudar con varias de nuestras clases de ingl\u00e9s. Los ni\u00f1os de nuestra escuela dominical fueron bendecidos por su ayuda, y las mujeres de nuestro estudio b\u00edblico tambi\u00e9n disfrutaron de conocerla.\r\n\r\nOlivia tuvo la oportunidad de actuar en un concierto de gospel con otros ni\u00f1os de nuestra escuela dominical. Un coro estadounidense de secundaria, dirigido por la hija de nuestro pastor japon\u00e9s, tambi\u00e9n actu\u00f3 en el concierto. Hubo alrededor de 200 artistas. Adem\u00e1s del canto, varias personas dieron testimonios sobre lo que Dios ha estado haciendo en sus vidas. Fue una gran oportunidad para todos los asistentes escuchar el mensaje del evangelio mientras escuchaban canciones de alabanza. Oren con nosotros para que quienes escucharon el mensaje del evangelio quisieran saber m\u00e1s acerca de Jes\u00fas que vino a la tierra por cada uno de ellos.\r\n\r\nEste verano, Axe sirvi\u00f3 como consejero de campamento en tres campamentos separados. Participaron alrededor de 150 ni\u00f1os, desde primero hasta octavo grado. Adem\u00e1s de muchos juegos y actividades al aire libre, ten\u00edan un servicio de adoraci\u00f3n por la ma\u00f1ana y por la tarde, as\u00ed como un tiempo para devociones en la cabina. Axe dijo que fue genial escuchar a los ni\u00f1os hacer preguntas sobre Jes\u00fas y el mensaje del evangelio. \u00a1Dos ni\u00f1os en la caba\u00f1a de Axe comprometieron su vida con Cristo durante el campamento! Oren con nosotros para que estos dos ni\u00f1os contin\u00faen creciendo en su nueva caminata con Cristo.\r\n\r\nHunter pudo competir en la decimocuarta competencia de nataci\u00f3n del estado de Saitama este verano. Su \u00e9tica de trabajo y alegr\u00eda son evidentes para sus compa\u00f1eros de equipo y otros competidores. Ore con nosotros para que Hunter pueda continuar compartiendo el amor de Dios a trav\u00e9s de su esp\u00edritu deportivo y su amistad con sus compa\u00f1eros de equipo.\r\n\r\nJustin se matricul\u00f3 en Liberty University este septiembre. Est\u00e1 estudiando filosof\u00eda con \u00e9nfasis en apolog\u00e9tica. Eryn agradeci\u00f3 la oportunidad de ir con \u00e9l para que se instalara en la universidad. Aunque estamos tristes de estar tan lejos, estamos entusiasmados con esta oportunidad para que Justin estudie, y esperamos ver todo lo que Dios tiene reservado para \u00e9l durante este tiempo.
