My wife, Lois, and I were in the hall of the host hotel at the 2008 IPHC World Conference in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, when we saw Bishop Moses Kumar and his lovely wife, Dora, coming toward us. After greetings were exchanged, the bishop asked if Lois was the actual Lois Hanson, who served as the secretary to the IPHC World Missions Director, Rev. R. L. Rex, during the years of 1973-1977. After thanking Lois for doing extensive research assisting him in the writing of his first Ph. D. dissertation,\u00a0Stepping Stones \u2013 A History of IPHC Missions in India<\/u>. A firm friendship was initiated, and the bond during that time culminated with an invitation to come to India for a time of ministry at our earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n

We began ministry in India around 2009, and every year we were able to teach and minister to the pastors, church planters, and local church leaders. In 2011, we wrote to our churches in the States.<\/p>\n

The Hyderabad Bible College in South India is advancing to newer levels of ministry in the training of church planters and equipping their ministers for growth, evangelism, and discipleship. The bishop of India, Dr. Moses Kumar, has a vision for the enlargement of the Bible College to meet the opportunities of ministry in India. In order to meet the challenge, the library of the school needs to be upgraded. Lois and I will be going there to teach the leaders of the conferences and to set up and organize the library on a computerized system of classification.<\/em><\/p>\n

We need up-to-date computers and theological reference books in English, Hindi, and Telegu. Operation Teaching Tools and Carolina Graduate School of Divinity are helping with E-books and books in print. However, we still need at least three computers and software to classify and access the books. Would you help equip Church Planters and Pastors to fulfill the Great Commission in our lifetime?<\/em><\/p>\n

Bishop Moses Kumar is seeing growth as his leaders are challenging each one to bring one each year since our two seminars there. Lois was busy training library staff and cataloguing a mountain of books for the Bible School. At last report, there are over 3,000 books in the computerized system.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2011, we taught the church planters \u201cThe Ten Steps of Discipleship.\u201d\u00a0 Bishop Moses Kumar challenged his pastors to lead their congregations to adopt the goal of \u201cEach One, Bring One, Each Year.\u201d\u00a0 I returned a few months later to teach the \u201cTen Steps\u201d to the local church and conference leaders.<\/p>\n

Lois set up the Hyderabad Bible College Library on a computerized classification system. Dean Bapujee said, \u201cWe have been longing for this library for years.\u201d Bishop Moses Kumar stated: \u201cThanks to the commitment and passion of Sister Lois Hoyle our library is in the right hands. Now, we have a very well-organized and computerized library in the city of Hyderabad. It will help bring us accreditation for our graduate program and will bless many generations to come.\u201d Muchas gracias to the Texas Latin Conference, especially El Aposento Alto Church, for faithfully contributing to our ministry fund, making the purchase of the computer and library software possible.<\/p>\n

In 2014, we taught at the Church Planters School, as well as a Women\u2019s Ministry retreat, a couples\u2019 retreat, and a prayer retreat in India. Hugh also ministered in Visakhapatnam, India, with leaders from all of the Indian conferences, a trip that took him on a 12-hour train ride to the coast, which was a new experience for him.<\/p>\n

In 2016, Dr. Hugh Skelton accompanied us. Dr. Skelton was director of the Center for International Christian Ministry when Bishop Moses Kumar was a student. We spent two weeks ministering at the School of Church Planting. Hugh Skelton, even at 87 years of age, gave a tremendous challenge to the young ministers, sharing many examples of his personal testimony, through many years of ministry. Lois also helped get the library software updated and spoke at a couples\u2019 retreat at the local church.<\/p>\n

Through the years, we have seen the Donald Memorial Church and Ashram grow in numbers, outreach, and vision. I was encouraged by the testimony of one of the members of the church, brother Israel, who, a year after the class was taught, stood in front of the congregation and shared our teaching on the Drama of Redemption along with skillfully drawn diagrams.<\/p>\n

Lois and I value our friendship with Bishop Moses Kumar and Dora, as well as Bishop Samuel Moses and his wife, Smitha, as they provide exemplary leadership in South India. We have wept with them at the passing of Dora\u2019s mother and rejoiced with them at the wedding of their daughter, Smitha. We have been made to feel a part of their natural family as we are all partakers in the family of God.<\/p>\n

Congratulations on reaching the 25th year of ministry in Hyderabad. Donald Memorial Ashram has grown from rocky desert land to a beautiful church, a hostel, a three-story Bible College building, and a school to accommodate over a thousand elementary and secondary school students.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Moore ha estado en el Ministerio de Misiones Mundiales desde 2011. Muchas veces a lo largo de las Escrituras vemos a Jes\u00fas comiendo con sus disc\u00edpulos, con pecadores e incluso con fariseos. Cada vez que come con alguien, tambi\u00e9n les ense\u00f1a. Cuando Jes\u00fas se encontr\u00f3 con Zaqueo, le dijo que deb\u00eda ser un invitado de Zaqueo. En esa cultura, esto significaba que estar\u00edan comiendo juntos. Debido a que Jes\u00fas se acerc\u00f3 a Zaqueo y desarroll\u00f3 una relaci\u00f3n con \u00e9l, el coraz\u00f3n de Zaqueo se abri\u00f3 a la verdad. Esto me recuerda otro principio que aprend\u00ed de mi madre: cuando se satisface el hambre f\u00edsica, la gente est\u00e1 dispuesta a permitirte satisfacer tu hambre espiritual tambi\u00e9n. Fue parcialmente con esto en mente que comenz\u00f3 mi deseo de ser parte de Coffee House Ministries.<\/em> <\/p>

Este verano, tuve la oportunidad de unirme al equipo en Amberes, B\u00e9lgica. Fui a ayudar en la apertura de Centraal Cafe y encontr\u00e9 la oportunidad de usar uno de los regalos que Dios me dio, la capacidad de hornear. No sonar mi propia bocina, pero soy bastante bueno en eso. Una de las ventajas de tener un panadero "interno" es la capacidad de mantener precios muy asequibles para deliciosos productos horneados.<\/em> <\/p>

A pesar de estar all\u00ed solo por poco tiempo, pude conocer a algunas personas incre\u00edbles. Muchas personas de Christian Community, la plantaci\u00f3n de iglesias en Amberes, vinieron a nuestras noches abiertas, pero tambi\u00e9n tuvimos a varias personas entrando por curiosidad. Fue en una de las noches de cafeter\u00eda que pude hablar m\u00e1s a fondo con una de las damas que acababa de comenzar a venir a la iglesia. Se mud\u00f3 a Amberes desde Francia para trabajar y ten\u00eda muy poca formaci\u00f3n espiritual, pero estaba buscando m\u00e1s sentido en su vida. Ella es solo un ejemplo de las muchas personas que buscan desesperadamente la luz y el amor de Cristo. Que yo sepa, ella todav\u00eda asiste a Christian Community.<\/em> <\/p>

El caf\u00e9 tiene una ubicaci\u00f3n incre\u00edble. Est\u00e1 justo a lo largo del r\u00edo, justo al lado de una v\u00eda principal, y est\u00e1 rodeado de edificios de oficinas. \u00bfQui\u00e9n no querr\u00eda tomar un caf\u00e9 en una cafeter\u00eda local y acogedora? Realmente creo que cuando le ofreces algo de comer a alguien, se abrir\u00e1 la puerta para construir relaciones, y este es un paso clave para alcanzarlo con el Evangelio.<\/em> Gracias por tomarse el tiempo de leer sobre esta incre\u00edble oportunidad que Dios ha puesto frente a m\u00ed. Estoy ansioso por regresar lo antes posible para compartir no solo golosinas sabrosas, sino tambi\u00e9n para compartir el trato eterno que es nuestra salvaci\u00f3n en Jesucristo. \u00danase a m\u00ed para orar por la gente de B\u00e9lgica para que tenga corazones abiertos para recibir el amor de Jes\u00fas. \u00bfSe asociar\u00e1 conmigo y ser\u00e1 parte de esta gran historia que se desarrolla en Amberes, B\u00e9lgica?<\/em> <\/p>
