{"id":42,"date":"2014-07-10T19:59:26","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T19:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/missions\/?p=42"},"modified":"2015-05-28T18:50:32","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T18:50:32","slug":"july-2014-reflections-from-the-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iphc.org\/missions\/july-2014-reflections-from-the-director\/","title":{"rendered":"July 2014 Reflections from the Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this issue of Reflections from the Director, I want to highlight two things: First, The Awakening Intern Class of 2014 and second, I want to introduce you to the newest member of our IPHC Missionary Family\u2026<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The Awakening Summer Intern Class of 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Awakening &#8211; the youth and college department of IPHC World Missions Ministries welcomed their intern class of 2014 to Oklahoma City the first week of June. The Awakening&#8217;s internship program provides students with \u2018training, experience, and ministry opportunities that prepare and help them pursue God\u2019s call on their lives.\u2019\u00a0 What a privilege it was for Stephanie and I to meet with them for what they term as a \u2018hang-out\u2019 session on June 10th. It was especially gratifying to welcome two members of our Missionary family as part of the 2014 class; Janene Wooten and Betsabe Salazar.<br \/>\nLet me briefly introduce the class of 2014 to you:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Jenna Aycock, North Carolina Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Evan Davis, Cornerstone Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Stephanie Poole, South Carolina Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Betsabe Salazar, IPHC Belgium Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Wesleeann Peralta, Texas Latin Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Janene Wooten, IPHC Kenya Conference<br \/>\n\u2022 Kaylee Gernandt, Southwestern Christian University<\/p>\n<p>By the time you read this article they will be half way through the internship program. Some of the ministry elements that they have or will be exposed to and participate in are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ministry training and Spiritual formation tracks<br \/>\n\u2022 Specialized classes in Leadership, Missions, Youth Ministry, and Discipleship<br \/>\n\u2022 \u2018Hang out sessions\u2019 with the Executives and select Directors of ministry<br \/>\n\u2022 Leading teams to Haiti [my daughter Gabriella is on this trip \u2013 her second missions trip with The Awakening], Costa Rica, and Panama<br \/>\n\u2022 Cornerstone Conferences&#8217; Camp Dayspring Senior High Week<br \/>\n\u2022 Ministry in Local Churches<br \/>\n\u2022 Church Growth and Development workshops<br \/>\n\u2022 Youth Quest<br \/>\n\u2022 EuroQuest, Hungary<br \/>\n\u2022 The Awakening&#8217;s day to day activities<br \/>\n\u2022 Multiple service and ministry projects<\/p>\n<p>In October of 1991, a prophetic challenge was given by John Dawson, author of \u2018Taking Our Cities For God,\u2019 to the IPHC. The fourth characteristic of this challenge is as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #2e3d47;\">\u201cYou are to be a tribe that raises up leadership for a vision as big as the world. You are to expose those being trained to the great diversity of ministries and movements.\u00a0 You are to know the Church.\u00a0 This movement is not primarily a nursery. Our success is always to be seen in terms of what is happening in the Kingdom, not in the isolation of our circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #2e3d47;\">The internship program comes to a close the first week of August.\u00a0 Keep these young leaders in your prayers. They represent so much potential for the Kingdom&#8217;s sake.\u00a0 May they experience what you and I know &#8211; that there is no time lost in preparation &#8211; my father taught my brother and me this almost as a litany of life.\u00a0 Even Jesus spent time in the desert, preparing Himself for what He was to face.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t plan His future; He prepared for it.
