Rivers of Fire: Revival in the Amazon<\/h1>\n

On Monday, May 13, 2024, a barge filled with 347 young people, pastors, and leaders began the journey down the Amazon River with a united goal to know the person of Jesus and make Him known throughout the Amazon.<\/p>\n

The barge, also referred to as a floating mission school, is part of a revivalistic and evangelistic thrust into the harvest prophetically called Rivers of Fire, led by IPHC missionary to Peru, David Hodges, and dozens of leaders and pastors behind the scenes making it all come together.<\/p>\n

This is not the first journey of its kind. The first Rivers of Fire was in 2022 when 200 youth and leaders first made their way down the Amazon and saw divine healings, salvations, reconciliations, baptisms, deliverances, and young people committed to The Great Commission in South America.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the beginning of Rivers of Fire, we\u2019ve pushed for the unity of the Church under the name of Jesus Christ.\u201d Hodges said.<\/p>\n

And this year, according to Hodges, 80 churches and their young people are represented on board this apostolic journey into unreached towns and cities, with 120 churches positioned to rally as boots on the ground to assist in evangelism efforts.<\/p>\n

After boarding, those on the barge made their homes in hammocks, where they will continue to sleep throughout their two-week journey. The first five days of the journey were directed towards discipleship with services on board the barge where the focus was: 1. The Person of Jesus, 2. The Person of the Holy Spirit, 3. The Call of Heaven, 4. Discipleship, and 5. How to Walk in the Spirit and Supernatural. Then, on Sunday, May 19, the 347 missionaries were sent out in faith for a mass evangelistic outreach to \u201cheal the sick, preach the Gospel, minister to the poor, and see God move through them,\u201d Hodges said. \u201cAt that point (day six of the journey), everything shifts into reaching the lost, taking the Gospel to the markets, taking the Gospel to high schools, junior highs, primary schools, Christian and secular schools, universities, the streets, and the neighborhoods.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the next week, the barge will continue to make stops in key cities down the Amazon where the 300-member team has been instructed to not stop after just sharing a scripture, but to share the person of Jesus and to see all come to know Him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really push the words from Joel 2 during the time on the barge, where it says that they climb over walls. There\u2019s nothing that can stop the word of God, and don\u2019t let anybody resist or stop you,\u201d Hodges said regarding the mission shared with the missionaries on board. \u201cGo in like an army, invade the city, invade the towns, and invade the neighborhoods with Jesus Christ. Take His presence to where they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The goal of Rivers of Fire is not a momentary revival. Instead, according to Hodges, it\u2019s about discipleship. After the first Rivers of Fire in 2022, local pastors have reported to Hodges that they have never seen a movement come, stay, and make lasting changes as Rivers of Fire has. Not only are they seeing lasting results in a young generation on fire for God and willing to be sent out, but they are also seeing lasting results within the local churches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe young people from 2022 that were shaky in their faith; they are leaders in their churches today and are back on the barge with new young people,\u201d Hodges said. \u201cThat\u2019s why this is about discipleship and full engagement with the person of Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Hodges, there are young people who are already prepared to be sent back to the river as missionaries to help churches disciple new believers who will give their lives to Christ throughout this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sending back young people with a passion to disciple, to work with those who accept Christ during our big crusades, and to help connect them with the local church while also helping us to plant new churches across the Amazon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As these 347 youth, pastors, and leaders continue down the Amazon, they desire the Church\u2019s prayers going before them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need supporting prayer,\u201d Hodges said when sharing that the intensity of the push and the spiritual atmosphere is extremely demanding. \u201cSo, we need sustaining prayer for people to stand in and pray for the move of God.\u201d<\/p>\n

The team aboard the barge has also requested prayers for divine rest, as it can be difficult to obtain in such a mission, and for the health and safety of all as they minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you preach the Gospel, the Gospel does what the Gospel does,\u201d Hodges said, \u201cChrist is risen, so when you lift Him up before men, they are drawn to Him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hodges shared that his prayer is for the Lord to glorify Himself through the young people during this journey, that they would see Him move, that they would know Him and never be able to doubt again, that they would experience Him so personally that it\u2019s not just about the salvations that will continue to take place, but the young people sustaining in the move of God throughout their generation.<\/p>\n

SEMBRANDO Y CEGANDO EN CAMBOYA<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\nCamboya se encuentra entre los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s pobres de Asia, tanto material como espiritualmente. Han pasado cuarenta a\u00f1os desde que Pol Pot y su Khmer Rouge mataron a m\u00e1s de dos millones de personas en un intento de establecer una utop\u00eda agraria comunista, pero el legado de esos a\u00f1os del holocausto todav\u00eda se puede observar en una grave falta de infraestructura, educaci\u00f3n, oportunidades y esperanza. Menos del 1% de los camboyanos conocen a Jesucristo como Se\u00f1or y Salvador.\r\n\r\nEn septiembre, Russell ayud\u00f3 a organizar y dirigir un equipo de ministerio a Camboya para realizar una serie de cl\u00ednicas m\u00e9dicas en varias aldeas. Los miembros del equipo proced\u00edan de Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Georgia, Jap\u00f3n y Filipinas.\r\n\r\nLas condiciones eran a menudo r\u00fasticas ya que llev\u00e1bamos a cabo cl\u00ednicas en las iglesias de las aldeas. En un lugar, los funcionarios locales nos obligaron a cerrar. El gobierno budista autoritario vigila de cerca y en ocasiones restringe las actividades de los cristianos.\r\n\r\nEn otras aldeas, las autoridades enviaron polic\u00edas y m\u00e9dicos locales para observarnos, pero estos se fueron impresionados por la experiencia y la amabilidad de nuestro equipo. \u00a1Incluso se unieron al trabajo y nos invitaron a volver!\r\n\r\nLas madres j\u00f3venes estaban agradecidas de recibir vitaminas y medicamentos para las enfermedades de sus hijos, mientras que los ancianos estaban encantados de recibir anteojos para leer. Adem\u00e1s de ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica b\u00e1sica y palabras de esperanza y aliento, los miembros del equipo tambi\u00e9n oraron por los pacientes que buscaron su ayuda. \u00a1La oraci\u00f3n es la mejor medicina de todas!\r\n\r\nJunto con el personal m\u00e9dico, tuvimos la bendici\u00f3n de tener un contingente de j\u00f3venes sobresalientes para ministrar a los ni\u00f1os en cada lugar. \u00a1Estamos orgullosos de decir que nuestro nieto Alex fue parte de este din\u00e1mico equipo!\r\n\r\nLos ni\u00f1os disfrutaron jugando juegos al aire libre, haciendo manualidades, escuchando historias b\u00edblicas, aprendiendo canciones del evangelio y \u00a1simplemente divirti\u00e9ndose! Lo mejor de todo es que los ni\u00f1os aprendieron a orarle a Jes\u00fas y tuvieron la oportunidad de ofrecerle sus vidas.\r\n\r\nEn a\u00f1os pasados, hemos invertido tiempo, esfuerzo y financiamiento en viajes similares, ayudando a trabajos pioneros y cavando pozos para aldeas. En este viaje, nos complaci\u00f3 especialmente ver el fruto de estas inversiones en la forma de florecer nuevas iglesias.\r\n

Ore para que los j\u00f3venes est\u00e9n equipados para servir al Se\u00f1or y traer prosperidad a su naci\u00f3n.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por el misionero que lidera nuestro trabajo en Camboya, el Rev. Merlen Lamanilao de Filipinas. Ore por su apoyo financiero y por su hija adolescente que pronto se graduar\u00e1 de la escuela secundaria.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por los pr\u00f3ximos viajes a Tailandia y Nepal, por viajes seguros y un ministerio eficaz.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestro apoyo financiero ha disminuido, lo que ha obstaculizado nuestra capacidad para viajar y ministrar.
