Update: West Family Medical Assistance; Thank You<\/h1>\n

Dear Ministry Partners and Faithful Supporters of Ben, Deysi, and the West family,<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are glad to report that Ben and Ariel are doing well. Both are in the final stages of recovery from injuries incurred in their car accident earlier this year. Please join us in praising God for the healing process He has walked them through and acknowledge with us the blessings from those in the medical field who have been instrumental in their progression.<\/p>\n

On a special note, and on behalf of World Missions Ministries and the West family, we want to express our appreciation for your sensitivity and generosity in your response to their need. It is a joy to share with you that all their medical expenses have been covered. Your selfless giving, prayers, and the Lord\u2019s additional provision through the Oklahoma Complete Health program have completely underwritten all bills from hospitals, doctors, surgeries, and other items to date. Please join with us as we Praise God!<\/p>\n

Currently, and in the months following, both Ben and Ariel will continue in therapy. These future expenses will be covered by your contributions, which should be sufficient. If future surgeries, which at this time are not foreseen, are required, we will keep everyone informed.<\/p>\n

In closing words, we cannot communicate the significance of your prayers, deep heartfelt concern, and generosity for our Missionary Family, especially in this season for the West family.<\/p>\n

Again, thank you for faithfully supporting WMM missionaries. You are a vital part of accomplishing the Great Commission. May you be blessed as we work together in the Lord\u2019s harvest.<\/p>\n

- A letter from the Wests, Missionaries to Peru<\/em><\/p>\n

Dear faithful donors, prayer partners, and friends,<\/p>\n

The response to the accident that my daughter Ariel and I were in back on March 14, 2024, has been tremendous. We have been the beneficiaries of countless prayers, letters, and financial gifts to help cover the unexpected expenses. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for thinking of us, for praying for us, and giving sacrificially!<\/p>\n

This letter is to give you an update on our recovery and the current state of our financial need. After multiple surgeries on Ariel\u2019s left ankle, left arm, and right hand; two surgeries on my right wrist and hand; and with months and months of (somewhat painful) therapy, we have both recovered significantly!<\/p>\n

Since being released from the hospital after more than 30 days in late April, Ariel went from only using her wheelchair to mastering her \u201cknee-scooter\u201d (May), she then began to walk with crutches (June), started climbing stairs (July-Aug), began bike-riding (September), and is continuing to improve with no more surgery expected on her severely injured left foot\/ankle. Praise the Lord! She is still expected to have more minor follow-up procedures on her hand and arm, mostly related to getting back to normal movement and function, but we are thankful for so much improvement already.<\/p>\n

After my second wrist surgery (June 27), I started more intense therapy to regain mobility. The improvement has been slow, but steady. I have regained more than 90% of my normal function, and about 70% of the strength in my right arm. For a time, I was barely able to use my fingers or lift a book, but in the last few weeks I have played 18 holes of golf (poorly), shot my bow hundreds of times (targets only; no deer yet), played pick-up basketball (game-winning 3-pointer), and thrown a football and baseball hundreds of times. There was a point back in the Spring where I thought I might not be able to do ANY of these things again. So, this is a huge praise report that God is indeed healing my badly broken (even the doctors grimace when they speak of it) wrist as physical therapy continues. Thank you again for giving and praying!<\/p>\n

World Missions Ministries has informed us that gifts for our medical needs have continued to come in and we want to gratefully notify you all that our needs have been entirely met at this time, and, in all likelihood, no further assistance in this regard will be necessary.<\/p>\n

SEMBRANDO Y CEGANDO EN CAMBOYA<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\nCamboya se encuentra entre los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s pobres de Asia, tanto material como espiritualmente. Han pasado cuarenta a\u00f1os desde que Pol Pot y su Khmer Rouge mataron a m\u00e1s de dos millones de personas en un intento de establecer una utop\u00eda agraria comunista, pero el legado de esos a\u00f1os del holocausto todav\u00eda se puede observar en una grave falta de infraestructura, educaci\u00f3n, oportunidades y esperanza. Menos del 1% de los camboyanos conocen a Jesucristo como Se\u00f1or y Salvador.\r\n\r\nEn septiembre, Russell ayud\u00f3 a organizar y dirigir un equipo de ministerio a Camboya para realizar una serie de cl\u00ednicas m\u00e9dicas en varias aldeas. Los miembros del equipo proced\u00edan de Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Georgia, Jap\u00f3n y Filipinas.\r\n\r\nLas condiciones eran a menudo r\u00fasticas ya que llev\u00e1bamos a cabo cl\u00ednicas en las iglesias de las aldeas. En un lugar, los funcionarios locales nos obligaron a cerrar. El gobierno budista autoritario vigila de cerca y en ocasiones restringe las actividades de los cristianos.\r\n\r\nEn otras aldeas, las autoridades enviaron polic\u00edas y m\u00e9dicos locales para observarnos, pero estos se fueron impresionados por la experiencia y la amabilidad de nuestro equipo. \u00a1Incluso se unieron al trabajo y nos invitaron a volver!\r\n\r\nLas madres j\u00f3venes estaban agradecidas de recibir vitaminas y medicamentos para las enfermedades de sus hijos, mientras que los ancianos estaban encantados de recibir anteojos para leer. Adem\u00e1s de ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica b\u00e1sica y palabras de esperanza y aliento, los miembros del equipo tambi\u00e9n oraron por los pacientes que buscaron su ayuda. \u00a1La oraci\u00f3n es la mejor medicina de todas!\r\n\r\nJunto con el personal m\u00e9dico, tuvimos la bendici\u00f3n de tener un contingente de j\u00f3venes sobresalientes para ministrar a los ni\u00f1os en cada lugar. \u00a1Estamos orgullosos de decir que nuestro nieto Alex fue parte de este din\u00e1mico equipo!\r\n\r\nLos ni\u00f1os disfrutaron jugando juegos al aire libre, haciendo manualidades, escuchando historias b\u00edblicas, aprendiendo canciones del evangelio y \u00a1simplemente divirti\u00e9ndose! Lo mejor de todo es que los ni\u00f1os aprendieron a orarle a Jes\u00fas y tuvieron la oportunidad de ofrecerle sus vidas.\r\n\r\nEn a\u00f1os pasados, hemos invertido tiempo, esfuerzo y financiamiento en viajes similares, ayudando a trabajos pioneros y cavando pozos para aldeas. En este viaje, nos complaci\u00f3 especialmente ver el fruto de estas inversiones en la forma de florecer nuevas iglesias.\r\n

PUNTOS PARA LA ORACI\u00d3N<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\u2022 Ore para que las iglesias en Camboya no sean oprimidas y restringidas en sus actividades, sino que tengan libertad para adorar y difundir el evangelio.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestras iglesias est\u00e1n ayudando a los j\u00f3venes en sus comunidades al ense\u00f1ar ingl\u00e9s y ofrecer capacitaci\u00f3n en computaci\u00f3n.
