Expanding the Rescue Team<\/strong><\/p>\n

Imagine your child has fallen into a well. Would you try to rescue them all alone? Unlikely. It is more likely that you would call specialists, or at least friends and family to help. As it is with many rescue missions, it\u2019s a team effort. Usually someone must secure the ropes while someone else goes down into the well. This is why we have emphasized so much the team concept when it comes to the mission God has given us. For that reason, everywhere we have been over the last three months, we have made a passionate plea for people to help us expand Team Bicket. We can\u2019t do it alone. During this process, we have had a wonderful time getting to know all the folks out here on the East Coast where the reception has been fantastic and friendships have been made. We have driven many miles and crisscrossed all over Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and even South Carolina to share about what God has done and will be doing in Peru. We have seen God provide and are seeing some folks join Team Bicket as monthly prayer and financial support members. Praise God! However, we need more monthly-giving team members to hold that rope and get us back to the field. Please pray about becoming a part of Team Bicket.<\/p>\n

\"Cleanup<\/a>Disaster Cleanup<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please continue to pray for the area affected by hurricane Helene. Some areas are starting to recover mainly thanks to the churches. However, there are areas that are nearly destroyed and have a long road to recovery. Jason was privileged to be able to help a little in cleaning up a flooded church in Allisonia, Virginia.<\/p>\n

Our Future in Coffee Beans<\/strong><\/p>\n

We enjoy a good cup of java like many people. Most in Peru enjoy coffee as well. Even though the best coffee in Peru is grown in the Sacred Valley region, the locals do not drink much of it. We are told they prefer infusions, like herbal teas that are good for altitude and digestion. So, you ask \u201cThen, why are you planning to open a coffee shop there?\u201d Well, in the beginning we weren\u2019t certain of the idea. Our thought was that we should focus on planting house churches, and not have such a distraction. We left the idea at the foot of the cross, believing that God would make it clear. Sure enough, as we shared God\u2019s work at various churches over the last few months, God began to communicate to us. There have been no less than three people who said they felt a strong confirmation from the Holy Spirit that we should open the coffee shop. We again approached God for more information, and we believe He said to go ahead. God also added that we should not only serve coffee and teas, but also cultivate a place for cultural exchange and community connection. This includes hosting English classes, live music, Bible studies, and the like, to help connect with people and funnel them into the house churches. No worries, there are also plenty of tourists around that will drink the coffee.<\/p>\n

SEMBRANDO Y CEGANDO EN CAMBOYA<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\nCamboya se encuentra entre los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s pobres de Asia, tanto material como espiritualmente. Han pasado cuarenta a\u00f1os desde que Pol Pot y su Khmer Rouge mataron a m\u00e1s de dos millones de personas en un intento de establecer una utop\u00eda agraria comunista, pero el legado de esos a\u00f1os del holocausto todav\u00eda se puede observar en una grave falta de infraestructura, educaci\u00f3n, oportunidades y esperanza. Menos del 1% de los camboyanos conocen a Jesucristo como Se\u00f1or y Salvador.\r\n\r\nEn septiembre, Russell ayud\u00f3 a organizar y dirigir un equipo de ministerio a Camboya para realizar una serie de cl\u00ednicas m\u00e9dicas en varias aldeas. Los miembros del equipo proced\u00edan de Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Georgia, Jap\u00f3n y Filipinas.\r\n\r\nLas condiciones eran a menudo r\u00fasticas ya que llev\u00e1bamos a cabo cl\u00ednicas en las iglesias de las aldeas. En un lugar, los funcionarios locales nos obligaron a cerrar. El gobierno budista autoritario vigila de cerca y en ocasiones restringe las actividades de los cristianos.\r\n\r\nEn otras aldeas, las autoridades enviaron polic\u00edas y m\u00e9dicos locales para observarnos, pero estos se fueron impresionados por la experiencia y la amabilidad de nuestro equipo. \u00a1Incluso se unieron al trabajo y nos invitaron a volver!\r\n\r\nLas madres j\u00f3venes estaban agradecidas de recibir vitaminas y medicamentos para las enfermedades de sus hijos, mientras que los ancianos estaban encantados de recibir anteojos para leer. Adem\u00e1s de ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica b\u00e1sica y palabras de esperanza y aliento, los miembros del equipo tambi\u00e9n oraron por los pacientes que buscaron su ayuda. \u00a1La oraci\u00f3n es la mejor medicina de todas!\r\n\r\nJunto con el personal m\u00e9dico, tuvimos la bendici\u00f3n de tener un contingente de j\u00f3venes sobresalientes para ministrar a los ni\u00f1os en cada lugar. \u00a1Estamos orgullosos de decir que nuestro nieto Alex fue parte de este din\u00e1mico equipo!\r\n\r\nLos ni\u00f1os disfrutaron jugando juegos al aire libre, haciendo manualidades, escuchando historias b\u00edblicas, aprendiendo canciones del evangelio y \u00a1simplemente divirti\u00e9ndose! Lo mejor de todo es que los ni\u00f1os aprendieron a orarle a Jes\u00fas y tuvieron la oportunidad de ofrecerle sus vidas.\r\n\r\nEn a\u00f1os pasados, hemos invertido tiempo, esfuerzo y financiamiento en viajes similares, ayudando a trabajos pioneros y cavando pozos para aldeas. En este viaje, nos complaci\u00f3 especialmente ver el fruto de estas inversiones en la forma de florecer nuevas iglesias.\r\n

PUNTOS PARA LA ORACI\u00d3N<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\u2022 Ore para que las iglesias en Camboya no sean oprimidas y restringidas en sus actividades, sino que tengan libertad para adorar y difundir el evangelio.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestras iglesias est\u00e1n ayudando a los j\u00f3venes en sus comunidades al ense\u00f1ar ingl\u00e9s y ofrecer capacitaci\u00f3n en computaci\u00f3n. Ore para que los j\u00f3venes est\u00e9n equipados para servir al Se\u00f1or y traer prosperidad a su naci\u00f3n.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por el misionero que lidera nuestro trabajo en Camboya, el Rev. Merlen Lamanilao de Filipinas. Ore por su apoyo financiero y por su hija adolescente que pronto se graduar\u00e1 de la escuela secundaria.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por los pr\u00f3ximos viajes a Tailandia y Nepal, por viajes seguros y un ministerio eficaz.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestro apoyo financiero ha disminuido, lo que ha obstaculizado nuestra capacidad para viajar y ministrar.
