The Wooten's Window<\/h2>\n

A Look Back at a Year of Blessing and Favor, and Forward to New Opportunities!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Praise the Lord to our wonderful supporters, family, and friends. We rejoice with you in the new year that God has given us. First, we want to say, \u201cThank you!\u201d, once again. Thank you for every prayer, for every financial gift, and for every message of encouragement. We are so grateful.<\/p>\n

This year, Sharon and I celebrated 41 years of marriage and ministry, and over 25 of those years have been serving in World Missions from right here in East\/Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA). For Sharon, it marks 43 years in Africa, since her parents moved here when she was three months old. We don\u2019t know what this new year or the coming future holds, but we know who holds it all, and in Him we have complete confidence. I was reading the words of Jesus in John 15.5; \u201cWithout Me you can do nothing,\u201d and was reminded again that this is all about Him and His call and purpose in our lives. To Him we give all Glory. In Swahili they say, \u201cUtukufu wote unamwenda Yesu\u201d.<\/p>\n

A Look Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are excited about 2025, but in this newsletter, we want to reflect on 2024. We want to look back at just a few things God has done, so we can rejoice together.<\/p>\n

Even with the physical issues I faced in 2023, and trying to space my travels out, Sharon and I traveled to Ethiopia, Burundi, the DR Congo, Rwanda, Egypt, and all over Kenya. Ron went to three of these countries twice. We ended the year visiting our daughter in Wales and went together to Poland for a few days of prayer walking. We had many opportunities in Wales and England to share about East Africa.<\/p>\n

Throughout the year, we were able to conduct or assist in 10 Great Commission Equipping Conferences (GCEC)\/Pastor\u2019s Conferences throughout Kenya, three Bible School graduations, six Women\u2019s Conferences and trainings, and many other preaching and teaching opportunities. We also had the joy of seeing many new men and women licensed and ordained into the ministry. One highlight was Ron going to Assiut, Egypt, where the church ordained four young men for ministry. This is a great advancement for Egypt. We have also received reports of thousands of new salvations across our region, and we have more churches than ever before. We have faced some very tough times in a few areas that I will mention at the end, asking for your prayers.<\/p>\n

In May, we held an East Africa Leadership Training in Nairobi. Six countries had at least three leaders present, and two other countries brought at least one. There were over 30 in attendance for these sessions. Unfortunately, the leader from Egypt could not attend. In this meeting we took the leaders through Phases 1 and 2 of the GCEC, but the highlight was having our leaders share highlights, statistics, and prayer requests from their countries. We had special times of prayer, worship, and fellowship. It was a joy and blessing to have all our IPHC missionaries in ESSA join us for this meeting. Another highlight was having our Chinese and Ethiopian believers in Kenya prepare food for two of our meals. One of the things we challenged our leaders with was that to reach new cultures, you must be willing to eat food that you are not accustomed to eating. It was remarkably interesting to see them eat Chinese dumplings and Ethiopian Injera.<\/p>\n

\"ESSA<\/a>

2024 was an incredible year of seeing humanitarian outreach continue through feeding programs among rural schools and unreached Islamic areas. We deeply appreciate the faithful support of some of our friends who have helped keep this ministry going. We are currently feeding around 1500 children at least three days a week, with others being fed daily as they attend school. This is in addition to what our IPHC People to People ministry does. We are amazed at how God has continued to open doors for us to spread the gospel through food, solar audio bibles, and the Jesus film in Somalia. I may never get to visit this work myself, as I would draw unwanted attention, but the men that God has raised up in the region are doing incredible ministry.<\/p>\n

Prayer Needs<\/strong><\/p>\n

The advancement of God's Kingdom always comes with battles along the way. Those battles are won when we pray and God intervenes. We have had many battles recently, and we are asking you to join us in praying that God will help in these major needs:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Please pray for our church in Rwanda. The IPHC has been deregistered there, and all churches have been closed. We cannot hold services of any kind. We are one of many Churches closed by the government. Thankfully, a few of our schools are still working, and a few humanitarian ministries are continuing, but we are trusting God for a reversal. I am actually writing this newsletter from Rwanda as I have come to try and find a way forward to get our registration restored.<\/p>\n

\"Praying<\/a>

Praying for our church in Rwanda. This was taken a few months ago after a General meeting.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u2022 Pray for our leader, Rev Emil Said, in Egypt as he recovers from a fall and hip replacement surgery. Rev Emil is a wonderful man of God, and this has taken a heavy toll on his body. It also affects the church. I hope to be able to visit him in February.<\/p>\n

\u2022 We have several other leaders who are facing heavy attacks in their families and there are other pressing legal issues with land and registrations in Kenya, Uganda, and Burundi.<\/p>\n

\u2022 I need monthly support for two Somali leaders who are faithfully discipling and evangelizing the lost, as well as feeding and doing other humanitarian work.<\/p>\n

Furlough in 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let me also announce that from April 2025, Sharon and I will be home on Furlough. It has been a little over three years since we were home to visit churches and give reports. I did come home a few months in 2023 after I had the minor stroke, but we did not visit churches or conferences. \u00a1Saludos cordiales desde Jap\u00f3n en el nombre de nuestro Salvador, Jesucristo! <\/h2>

Con el comienzo de un nuevo a\u00f1o, tendemos a reflexionar sobre el a\u00f1o pasado. Podemos ver a Dios trabajando de muchas maneras diferentes, y sabemos que son sus oraciones fieles y su apoyo las que est\u00e1n teniendo un impacto en la vida de los japoneses. \u00a1Estamos muy honrados y bendecidos de que trabajes con nosotros para ser las manos y los pies de Dios para compartir su amor en todo Jap\u00f3n! <\/p>

\"Amigos<\/a> <\/p>

Al final del a\u00f1o, realizamos varios eventos de divulgaci\u00f3n para celebrar el nacimiento de Jes\u00fas y compartir el verdadero significado de la Navidad. Tuvimos varios eventos en nuestra iglesia y en nuestra escuela de ingl\u00e9s, donde cantamos canciones navide\u00f1as, jugamos juegos e hicimos una artesan\u00eda de \u00e1rboles de Navidad. Fue una bendici\u00f3n ver a nuestros hijos, as\u00ed como a los j\u00f3venes de nuestra iglesia, coordinar algunos de los eventos. Compartimos con los ni\u00f1os y sus familias que la raz\u00f3n por la que celebramos la Navidad es por el maravilloso regalo que Dios nos dio al enviar a Su hijo a la tierra para vivir entre nosotros. Jes\u00fas es el regalo de amor de Dios para nosotros, y todo lo que tenemos que hacer es aceptar su regalo. Hab\u00eda varios ni\u00f1os y sus padres que nunca antes hab\u00edan ido a la iglesia y que nunca antes hab\u00edan o\u00eddo hablar de Jes\u00fas. Una madre y sus tres hijos vinieron a nuestra escuela dominical el domingo siguiente y han venido varias veces desde entonces. Est\u00e1n experimentando muchas dificultades en su familia en este momento. Oren con nosotros para que las historias y los sermones que hayan escuchado crezcan en sus corazones y se sientan atra\u00eddos por Dios, quien es el \u00fanico que puede traer la verdadera paz y unidad. <\/p>

\"Amigos<\/a> <\/p>

En nuestras clases de conversaci\u00f3n en ingl\u00e9s, hemos estado leyendo un sencillo libro de cuentos b\u00edblicos para ni\u00f1os. Hemos tenido varios ni\u00f1os y sus madres vienen a observar las clases para ver si les gustar\u00eda unirse. Una ni\u00f1a le coment\u00f3 a su madre cu\u00e1nto le encanta escuchar las historias y quer\u00eda volver para poder terminarlas. Otra madre coment\u00f3 lo diferentes que eran nuestras clases de otras clases de ingl\u00e9s que ella hab\u00eda observado. Ella sinti\u00f3 que no solo ense\u00f1amos a los ni\u00f1os habilidades de ingl\u00e9s, sino que tambi\u00e9n nos preocupamos de ense\u00f1ar y entrenar a todo el ni\u00f1o mental, emocional y espiritualmente. Oren con nosotros para que los ni\u00f1os y sus padres contin\u00faen sintiendo y viendo la diferencia que Dios hace en la vida de las personas que le pertenecen. <\/p>

\"Amigos<\/a> <\/p>

Est\u00e1bamos muy agradecidos de que Justin pudiera regresar a casa para las vacaciones de Navidad. Le est\u00e1 yendo bien en Liberty University y est\u00e1 creciendo acad\u00e9micamente y espiritualmente. \u00c9l es un l\u00edder de grupo peque\u00f1o para los chicos de su sal\u00f3n. Fue dif\u00edcil decir adi\u00f3s al final de su descanso, pero sabemos que Dios se est\u00e1 moviendo y trabajando en su vida, y estamos entusiasmados por lo que Dios tiene reservado este semestre. <\/p>

\u00a1Gracias nuevamente por su colaboraci\u00f3n! \u00a1Eres un est\u00edmulo y una bendici\u00f3n para nosotros y para los japoneses! <\/p>
