Home Fires Burning<\/strong><\/p>\n

While we\u2019ve been away the work has not stopped; the move of the Holy Spirit hasn\u2019t halted! We are greatly encouraged by all the things God continues to do in Peru. As we\u2019ve been itinerating, we have shared that in our first term we were a part of taking the VBS program to other parts of Peru. Praise God that this year our team back home was able to put on this program in seven different locations, one of which was international. In a way, this is an extension of the efforts to encourage the Peruvian church to get involved in international missions despite the challenges of poverty. We have also heard that our fitness training outreach has been steadily growing. God even made a way for those still in Peru to present their physical training AND the gospel in some of the local schools. If that wasn\u2019t enough, God has provided a large donation so that they can begin the construction of a sizable new facility to house the staff and interns of the Awakening Missions Training Center in Peru. Not long ago they had the groundbreaking ceremony. Praise God! But wait, there\u2019s more. Along the itineration road we\u2019ve mentioned the Rivers of Fire outreach, and our prayers for follow-up ministry. Well, we have received news that there are teams going out to remote places like Contamana to continue the discipleship process! All this news is increasing our desire to step into our place amongst what God is doing in Peru as soon as we can. Let\u2019s do this Team Bicket!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Future is Bright<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early in March we were involved in a Missions Intensive hosted by the Awakening. The purpose was to encourage a few young people to seriously consider becoming missionaries. We, and a few other missionary units, were called in to answer questions, inspire, and challenge these young people to step up. It was a wonderful time amongst like-minded people that ended with a prayer service full of blessings and prophecies.<\/p>\n

No Distance in the Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most enjoyable parts of this itineration process has been forming and solidifying personal connections with pastors, family, brothers and sisters in the Lord, and even a few missionary friends. We want to thank everyone who has invited us to visit their church, present the vision, or converse with them over a meal. You have all been a blessing, and I hope the feeling is mutual. Ever since Fall of last year, we have been busy with Great Commission Meals, the National Pastors Conference, revivals, various events with the Awakening, the Annual Hispanic Pastors Conference, the Discipleship Ministries Summit, and many visits with congregations for their Sunday or midweek services. We were even blessed to reconnect with our home conference in Eastern Oklahoma and ministry friends in Florida over the holidays. Many miles have been driven to make connections. All these connections are a necessary part of linking the body of Christ to the global mission of Jesus, and despite the itineration process lasting longer than we originally expected, we are savoring the opportunities to be a part of uniting believers over this vital cause. Thanks to all the Conference Missions Directors involved in helping us and promoting international missions. We praise God for the team that He is building to reach the world through the Andes mountains of Peru!<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Continue praying for details concerning our plans to move to the mountains of Peru.
\n\u2022 Pray for Vivi and Nora with regards to their education, spiritual development and character.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/a>Growing Girls<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vivi and Nora are now in third and first grade, respectively, and love the local libraries and national parks which have aided in our homeschooling efforts. Public libraries are a rarity in Peru, so we\u2019ll miss them. In general, our lovely young ladies are interested in audio books, Narnia, arts and crafts, ballet, and baking. Their tender hearts will often lead them to make handmade gifts for whoever comes to mind. Nora has a creative mind to solve engineering or craft problems, and plenty of passion to go along with that. Vivi is a natural born leader and readily engages those in need of comfort with an unsolicited hug or prayer. Please pray that our girls will win their fights against fear, funnel their anger into good behavior, begin to love learning, and become better at handling subjects that require perseverance. We praise God for our growing girls! They are so very precious. We press on to prayerfully guide them as they grow in favor with God and the world.<\/p>\n

SEMBRANDO Y CEGANDO EN CAMBOYA<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\nCamboya se encuentra entre los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s pobres de Asia, tanto material como espiritualmente. Han pasado cuarenta a\u00f1os desde que Pol Pot y su Khmer Rouge mataron a m\u00e1s de dos millones de personas en un intento de establecer una utop\u00eda agraria comunista, pero el legado de esos a\u00f1os del holocausto todav\u00eda se puede observar en una grave falta de infraestructura, educaci\u00f3n, oportunidades y esperanza. Menos del 1% de los camboyanos conocen a Jesucristo como Se\u00f1or y Salvador.\r\n\r\nEn septiembre, Russell ayud\u00f3 a organizar y dirigir un equipo de ministerio a Camboya para realizar una serie de cl\u00ednicas m\u00e9dicas en varias aldeas. Los miembros del equipo proced\u00edan de Carolina del Norte, Carolina del Sur, Georgia, Jap\u00f3n y Filipinas.\r\n\r\nLas condiciones eran a menudo r\u00fasticas ya que llev\u00e1bamos a cabo cl\u00ednicas en las iglesias de las aldeas. En un lugar, los funcionarios locales nos obligaron a cerrar. El gobierno budista autoritario vigila de cerca y en ocasiones restringe las actividades de los cristianos.\r\n\r\nEn otras aldeas, las autoridades enviaron polic\u00edas y m\u00e9dicos locales para observarnos, pero estos se fueron impresionados por la experiencia y la amabilidad de nuestro equipo. \u00a1Incluso se unieron al trabajo y nos invitaron a volver!\r\n\r\nLas madres j\u00f3venes estaban agradecidas de recibir vitaminas y medicamentos para las enfermedades de sus hijos, mientras que los ancianos estaban encantados de recibir anteojos para leer. Adem\u00e1s de ofrecer atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica b\u00e1sica y palabras de esperanza y aliento, los miembros del equipo tambi\u00e9n oraron por los pacientes que buscaron su ayuda. \u00a1La oraci\u00f3n es la mejor medicina de todas!\r\n\r\nJunto con el personal m\u00e9dico, tuvimos la bendici\u00f3n de tener un contingente de j\u00f3venes sobresalientes para ministrar a los ni\u00f1os en cada lugar. \u00a1Estamos orgullosos de decir que nuestro nieto Alex fue parte de este din\u00e1mico equipo!\r\n\r\nLos ni\u00f1os disfrutaron jugando juegos al aire libre, haciendo manualidades, escuchando historias b\u00edblicas, aprendiendo canciones del evangelio y \u00a1simplemente divirti\u00e9ndose! Lo mejor de todo es que los ni\u00f1os aprendieron a orarle a Jes\u00fas y tuvieron la oportunidad de ofrecerle sus vidas.\r\n\r\nEn a\u00f1os pasados, hemos invertido tiempo, esfuerzo y financiamiento en viajes similares, ayudando a trabajos pioneros y cavando pozos para aldeas. En este viaje, nos complaci\u00f3 especialmente ver el fruto de estas inversiones en la forma de florecer nuevas iglesias.\r\n

PUNTOS PARA LA ORACI\u00d3N<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\u2022 Ore para que las iglesias en Camboya no sean oprimidas y restringidas en sus actividades, sino que tengan libertad para adorar y difundir el evangelio.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestras iglesias est\u00e1n ayudando a los j\u00f3venes en sus comunidades al ense\u00f1ar ingl\u00e9s y ofrecer capacitaci\u00f3n en computaci\u00f3n. Ore para que los j\u00f3venes est\u00e9n equipados para servir al Se\u00f1or y traer prosperidad a su naci\u00f3n.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por el misionero que lidera nuestro trabajo en Camboya, el Rev. Merlen Lamanilao de Filipinas. Ore por su apoyo financiero y por su hija adolescente que pronto se graduar\u00e1 de la escuela secundaria.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Ore por los pr\u00f3ximos viajes a Tailandia y Nepal, por viajes seguros y un ministerio eficaz.\r\n\r\n\u2022 Nuestro apoyo financiero ha disminuido, lo que ha obstaculizado nuestra capacidad para viajar y ministrar.
