Karanggedang, Indonesia is a village in the province of Central Java, Indonesia.This community is heavily influenced by the Muslim religion. The IPHC church established in this area has about 30-40 members– most of which came from a Muslim background.<\/p>\n

In August 2012, Tim Salley, World Missions Regional Director for Southeast Asia, notified our office of a great need in Karanggedang, Indonesia. This community is in great need of several water wells to supply water to the village homes. Because of the location of this community and equipment required to dig a well, the cost of each well is $7,000.<\/p>\n

Through generous donations from People to People supporters, we were able to send funds needed for the first water well at the beginning of 2013. Due to the rainy season in Indonesia, the project was slightly delayed. However, mid-April we received an update from Tim Salley showing the progress that was being made on the well. Less than a month later, we received word that the well was finished and is working beautifully!!<\/p>\n

A water well not only provides clean drinking water to a community who otherwise may have been drinking disease-infested water. A water well provides a multitude of opportunities for our church to minister by providing water to quench their physical thirst. More importantly, spiritual thirsts are being quenched when Living Water is given to a lost soul through the introduction of Jesus Christ! (John 4:10)<\/p>\n
