Honoring Reverend Joel McGraw:
(February 26, 1937- May 6, 2024)
Reverend Joel McGraw, an outstanding and influential pastor within the IPHC, received his heavenly reward in his homegoing on May 6, 2024 at the age of 87. McGraw attended Birmingham Southern, Samford College, and Emmanuel College, eventually earning a Master’s Degree in Ministry from Southwestern Christian University. He and his wife, Janelle Barbee McGraw, pastored churches in Brownville, Alabama, Port St. Joe, Florida, and Flomaton, Alabama before founding Faith Chapel in Huntsville in 1967. He pastored there for over 40years. Over time, his ministry stretched across the world as well, allowing him the opportunity to minister in Cuba, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Africa, and Europe, among other places.
McGraw was a devoted husband, pastor, friend, and a life-long student. He enjoyed reading and writing and was well respected by his peers and congregants. Presiding Bishop A.D. Beacham, Jr, shared: “When I was a young minister, Joel McGraw was a pastor who greatly influenced me. His gentle manner, patience with people, love for his family, and gift of oral and written communication inspired me. The global IPHC family joins in remembering his legacy and praying for his family.”
A service will be held on Monday, May 13, at Berryhill Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation following. A graveside service will be held the following day, Tuesday, May 14, at Brownville Cemetery in Brownville, AL, beginning at 2:00 P.M.
