Young Adults Gather for The Call

Earlier this month, young adults representing more than eight IPHC conferences gathered for  The Call, a weekend hosted by The Awakening in partnership with the Appalachian Conference. The gathering created space for young adults from across the church to worship together, build relationships, grow in their faith, and have meaningful conversations about what it means to follow the call of Jesus.

Throughout the weekend, participants spent time in worship, morning prayer rooms, breakout sessions, and around the altar. There were also plenty of opportunities around tables for young adults to meet one another, share their stories, pray together, and build friendships with others walking through similar seasons of life and ministry.

Breakout sessions covered a wide range of topics designed to equip young adults both spiritually and practically. Sessions included apologetics, intercessory prayer, how to study the Bible, spiritual disciplines, mentorship, mental health, creativity, missions, relationships in ministry, and serving Jesus through every season of life.

A number of pastors, missionaries, ministry leaders, and conference leaders poured into those in attendance throughout the weekend.

Guests included missionaries Linwood and Nancy Berry, Dylan Maynor, Bishop Jason and Joy Beiler, Melanie Wayne, Brittany O’Neill, Wes Galford, Ron Fredericks, Bishop Larry and Gloria Meadors, and Todd and Tammy Porter.

While teaching was an important part of the weekend, some of the most meaningful moments happened through prayer and personal connection. Young adults prayed for one another, gave and received prophetic words, and spent significant time seeking the Lord together.

One participant shared, “I used to feel alone, but being here this weekend I realized there are a lot of me! I found my people!”

That sense of connection reflected one of the most important parts of The Call: reminding young adults that they are not walking through life and ministry alone.

The conversation throughout the weekend centered on what it truly means to be called by Jesus. Calling is more than accepting a ministry position or holding a title. It is choosing to follow Jesus one day at a time, intentionally pursuing Him and loving the people He places around us.

Ministry assignments and seasons will change. There may be seasons of opportunity and seasons that feel more like the wilderness. Through each of them, the invitation of Jesus remains the same: “Come and follow Me.”

The Call was a meaningful weekend of worship, equipping, prayer, and connection, and we are grateful for every leader who invested in these young adults and every person who answered the invitation to gather. Our prayer is that what God began during this weekend continues as these young adults return to their churches, communities, and everyday lives committed to following Jesus wherever He leads.
