Life-threatening famine continues in the Horn of Africa
People to People is asking for help for those living in East Africa. The Horn of Africa is in the midst of a severe famine which affects Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and parts of Uganda and South Sudan. An estimated 12 million people are experiencing severe food shortage, malnutrition, and related deaths.
“Funds are urgently needed so we can go into refugee camps and bring food to the starving,” said People to People Ministries. The ministry also plans to distribute food in southern Ethiopia to meet the immediate needs of IPHC churches and their surrounding communities.
According to Ron Wooten, Regional Coordinator for East Africa, over 50% of theIPHC’s districts in Keny are experiencing life threatening food and water shortages. Missionaries in Sudan are reporting a 300% inflation in food prices in the past few months.
“We’re asking people to give a special one-time gift of $100, or to make a monthly commitment to help the poor and starving of East Africa,” said Matt Bennett. “Please pray for a miracle as People to People responds to this need.”
