BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPORT!
Since the Earthquakes People to People have been very active in helping the Haitians reestablish their livelihood. While we can never fully understand or compensate a family’s loss, People to People has worked hard to aide and help provide a new start. Oklahoma, especially recently, has been the home to some of our nations worse natural disasters. As the people reclaim the pieces of their homes and individuals come to serve it’s often a time of remembering.
It has been over three and half years since the earthquake hit and the IPHC family continues to bring teams. People to People continues to sponsor the children of Haiti through child sponsorship. That is how we are able to run our schools here in Haiti to give the children of Haiti not only an education but also a hot meal while they are at school. ” –Darrel Clowers, missionary to Haiti-
Since the earthquakes, People to People has helped Haiti in building new houses, orphanages, and schools. Our biggest need is assisting the schools. The fall term begins in October. As families grow, villages grow, and ultimately schools grow. Schools at max capacity are a good problem to have in Haiti. Education is essential for any culture to advance, People to People is excited for the progress that is happening among the Haitian people. As we prepare for this school year there are so many avenues that are in need of support. Many families are sending their first child to kindergarten and others are sending their children to college. As we prepare for this fall our schools in Haiti need our help! The schools are asking for funds in order to build more desks and chairs. About four kids share a desk and bench.
We are calling it our “BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPORT” project in hopes of creating momentum to prepare for school in the states in order to send them to Haiti! Let’s rally around our schools and help the children have a place to sit and study!
