News of severe flooding in Nepal affecting our fellow believers has come in from the field. Mud slides, building collapses, and drowning are happening in Nepal down to India from Kathmandu and many other places. Several pastors are reporting electricity outages, road and highways washed out, and bridges down. There is also loss of housing, churches reporting property damage, and food shortages. Nepal needs our prayers and assistance.
People to People has sent funds to help with immediate relief efforts, providing rice, vegetables, and tarps for distribution to some of the affected areas. Funds are needed to help restore the communities. Areas in need of assistance to rebuild are:
Elementary school with 200 children in attendance, needs a retaining wall as soon as possible to prevent the building from collapsing. $470 USD
Province #1- Church wall collapsed, and two wooden bamboo structured homes lost. $800 USD
Province #3- Four churches damaged. $2100 USD
Province #4- Two churches damaged. Several homes flooded or destroyed. $800 USD
Province #5- Church roof blown off. $500 USD
Dailekh- Churches and homes damaged. $900 USD
Chovar-Two family’s homes washed away. The church has found a small room for rent. They need a gas stove, gas cylinder, and basic household supplies. $350 USD
