Disaster Relief: Pakistan
- People to People Ministries
PAKISTAN – On Wednesday, Aug. 16, reports were received that two IPHC churches in Pakistan had been broken into, looted, and burned as a result of mob attacks happening within the country.
According to Pakistan's IPHC (registered in the country as Christ Holiness Church) National Leader Asher Mansha, up to 25 churches of various denominations from Catholic to Presbyterian were targeted and violently attacked by Muslims within the Punjab Province of Faisalabad. The attacks came following alleged accusations of blasphemy against Christian pastors in the area.
Despite the tumultuous week, we recently received word that our our brothers and sisters in Pakistan held their first church service since the attack on Sunday, August 27. This gathering in faith has filled us with much hope, however, we ask that you continue praying for those in Pakistan, as they are still receiving death threats because of their Christianity. We are incredibly thankful for your donations and prayers. While funds have been raised and sent, there is still such a large need for food, clothing, cots, and other emergency supplies.
People to People asks our global IPHC family to please keep those of eastern Pakistan in your prayers; especially the many in fear as death threats made to our fellow Christians continue. Similarly, People to People is stepping in to aid the IPHC churches, pastors, and members affected by the attacks.
