After devastating storms and tornadoes ripped through Mayfield, Kentucky, on December 12, efforts to recover and rebuild are underway. Though no IPHC churches are active in the area, Rev. Bill Terry, director of DRUSA, says that churches from other states have been contacting their conferences to give.
“The need for help is clear and we know we can offer it,” Terry said. “Thankfully, our churches and conferences are responding to the situation.”
In a first for the IPHC’s disaster relief efforts, DRUSA will disburse emergency funds rather than deploying its mobile food kitchen. Rev. Terry will visit Kentucky to determine the next steps for relief efforts with Bishop Tommy McGhee, Executive Director of Discipleship Ministries.
“Bishop McGhee and I will assess needs and make recommendations,” Rev. Terry said. “Because of the urgency, DRUSA will address those needs as soon as possible. All of the donations received – 100% – will go to aid this community.”
