On Saturday morning, February 24, 2024, more than 450 delegates met in Falcon, North Carolina for a specially called session to vote on new conference leadership for the North Carolina Conference of the IPHC. Bishop A.D. Beacham, Jr. presided over the special session.
Reverend Oris Hubbard was elected Conference Superintendent. He has served the North Carolina Conference in the role of Treasurer for 13 ½ years; he has also held the position of Director of the North Carolina Conference’s Loan Fund for 17 years. Rev. Hubbard is held in high esteem by the ministers and the laity of the North Carolina Conference. Throughout their marriage, he and his wife, Rose, have pastored IPHC churches in North Carolina as well as serving in the conference office.
In this specially called session, Dr. Jonathan Altman was also elected as the Assistant Superintendent. He is the lead pastor at the St. Paul Church in Greenville, NC, where he serves alongside his wife, Anna.
Reverend Paul Evans was elected to the Conference Executive Council, to the position vacated by Dr. Altman. Rev. Evans and his wife, Loala, have served as pastors at Wilmington First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wilmington, NC for 25 years.
In August 2023, the newly-elected Superintendent of the North Carolina Conference, Bishop Doug Bartlett, passed away. Following his death, Dr. Ryan Jackson, then the Assistant Superintendent, assumed the office of Conference Superintendent. At that time, the conference allowed the Superintendent to continue pastoring a local church as well as carry out the duties of the Superintendent.
In November of 2023, the Conference Executive Council determined it would be in the best interest of the conference for the Superintendent to serve full time for the conference. Bishop Jackson spent time discerning the will of the Lord pertaining to his positions as both a local pastor and a conference Superintendent. In January of 2024, Bishop Jackson determined that he was to remain as the lead pastor for The Capital Church in Garner, NC.
This decision necessitated a specially called session to elect the new leadership of the North Carolina Conference.
Presiding Bishop A.D. Beacham, Jr. shared: “I was very thankful for the wise process Bishop Jackson and the conference council undertook in leading the North Carolina Conference in this transition. I am grateful for the new leadership and excited for the future of the North Carolina Conference. The wonderful, hopeful atmosphere was unmistakable as the delegates met in Falcon, NC.”
