Hancock Hallelujahs
by Gene & Liz Hancock
It has been a whirlwind of activity this summer. We have grown so much in Belize that it was necessary to have back to back Vacation Bible School teams to get around to all the churches. There is only so much time to do VBS, along with our annual Youth Camp and Women’s Conference in the month of July. This year our last three teams flew out and in on the same day, which was necessary to conduct all of the VBS and ministry. Next year promises to be even more challenging.
I am dedicating this newsletter to the memory of Karen Boggs as she was a staunch supporter of Belize. She always told people I was her Belize mom. She and our daughter, Barbara, were very much sisters and flowed well together in ministry as did all the ladies and men on the Belize Team. As we all know, the first place you go on a missions trip will always have a special place in your heart. Karen’s burden for Belize began before she ever set foot on the soil in 2007. What some of you may not know is that Karen started the first toy drive that ever came to Belize around 2004. She called it “A Missions Minded Christmas.” She and Bishop Ray were our Pastors at that time and she was ministering to the Youth of South Greenwood PH. This toy drive continues today; Dana and Megan Corley, a mother and daughter from Batesburg PH in South Carolina, are heading it up now. If you are interested in participating, please contact: dcpaso@yahoo.com.
We are so thrilled that our conference, other conferences, churches, and individuals have expressed a desire to be a part of the “Karen Boggs Memorial Tabernacle” on our campground property in Belize and/or the teams which will be coming to work on this project. There will be a small group here on September 30th to begin working on the roads leading to the campground and the electrical work as well. This was already planned but is something that must be done before we can begin work on the Tabernacle.
Thank you for your constant prayers, encouragement, and support.
