A Note from World Missions Ministries
The International Pentecostal Holiness Church World Missions Ministries family shares our condolences to the family of the Rev. Allen Dawson.
Allen Dawson and his late wife Lillie Dawson served as WMM missionaries to Southern Africa from 1964 to 1974. The Dawsons’ ministry focused mainly on the three countries of Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, and Nyasaland (now known as Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi).
Dawson spent five days a week teaching at Emmanuel Bible School in Northern Rhodesia, conducted District Conferences, and preached weekend services in churches throughout all three countries—“endeavoring to keep them going,” he wrote in a communique World Missions has since archived.
In their 10 years, Dawson served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Conference in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, was President at the Bible School, translated songbooks into local languages, helped with building projects, and started seven congregations in Zimbabwe.
“I loved the countries and all I did there,” Dawson wrote. “I was always happy there and thank God for those precious ten years of service to my Lord and our Church. I love missions and the mission fields.”
WMM Executive Director J. Talmadge Gardner shared, “The impact the Revs. Allen and Lillie Dawson made in the Kingdom contributed to the growth of the Pentecostal Holiness Church throughout Southern Africa. We honor the life and ministry legacy of missionary Allen Dawson who loved the Church, loved Christ’s mission, and whose footprint is still affecting generations in Southern Africa.”
