It is Time!
That’s right, it is time to GO! We’re ready to “cast off!!” We have been officially released to go back to Peru!!! Praise God! Thank you, everyone, for helping us get to this point. Every gesture of hospitality, every conversation, every prayer, and every Spirit-led dollar sent to support God’s mission in the Andes Mountains of Peru is and has been greatly appreciated. We will still visit the churches on our schedule for the rest of August and the first week of September. With that said, we are aiming to leave the States around the middle of September. We haven’t bought our plane tickets just yet, but that will come shortly. Now that we’ve been released, it’s not the time to slow down. We need all hands on deck! All monthly support will now be even more important as your financial giving will help us to stay on the field for the entirety of the three to four years of our next term. To those who are already giving monthly, we want to say thank you all very much; keep it up. To those who have pledged to support but have not yet begun sending money, it’s time to take that step of faith. With all that said, we want to thank everyone for their prayers and assistance so far. Alright, TEAM BICKET, let’s do this. Steady as she goes!
The Final Push
As we’ve been working toward the day we got the good news, we’ve been all over the place. Since April, we’ve visited folks in Altavista, Mayodan, Siler City, Wytheville, Christiansburg, Flat Rock, Burlington, Buffalo Ridge, Fairystone, Danville, Dry Fork, Eden (Draper), Park Springs, Swansonville, Lexington, West Durham (Hillsborough), Stuart, Collinsville, High Point, and Stanley. We’ve enjoyed visiting with all kinds of people. When we’ve had a free Wednesday, we’ve also visited our next-door neighbors, the folks at Patrick Springs PH Church. We also wanted to convey a special thanks to all the church families near our temporary home here in Stuart. You have all been wonderful neighbors. I truly hope that the time spent with you all has been encouraging, inspiring, and challenging. I hope, also, that in some way, shape, or form, every person we made a connection with came to know God at least a little bit better. We had such fun getting to know you all. Thanks again for your hospitality and friendship. However, this is not the end. Remember, one of the main purposes of our coming off the field was to build a team. After this time of preparation, we're shifting into phase two of team building: the rescue. It’s time to “lower us down” into the “well.” Let the rescue mission commence!
VBS and Camp Madness
In the last few months, our girls have attended a couple of VBSs and the Appalachian Conference’s Kids Summer Camp, Camp Maranatha. Thanks again to all the workers who made those experiences wonderful. We (Jason and Catrina) even got to help a bit in one of the VBSs.
Prayer Topics
• Praise God for successful fundraising and the continued flow of support.
• Continue praying for details concerning our plans to move to the mountains of Peru.
• Pray for Vivi and Nora with regard to their education, spiritual development, and character.
Re-Entry!
Vivi and Nora are now nine and seven years old, respectively. After a full year of living in the United States, they have been eager for months to get back to Peru to see their closest friends and be back in their home church. Having been stateside so long, our Spanish language skills are a bit rusty, and the girls are especially nervous about getting back into the habit of speaking Spanish. Other challenges will include reintegration into Peruvian culture and even the culture of our ministry partners there in Peru. Even in the face of this transition, we are excited to begin preparing for our move to the mountains and to continue serving wherever God needs us to stoke the fires of revival. Please pray that we’ll be able to hit the ground running. Thanks!
