During the week of Easter, the Annual conference was held in Mexicali, Baja California. I traveled with Bartola and Lolita Torres, pastors of the church in Los Mochis. They were both former students of mine from Elim Bible Institute and studied at the Hermosillo campus. After the Institute, they moved from Mexicali to Hermosillo. On the way, we spent three days with former members of their church who now live in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, which is about 30 miles from Mexicali. He is a captain in the Mexican Army and was transferred from Los Mochis to San Luis. The Garcia family has two daughters, 9-years-old and 15-years-old, and a son who celebrated his 14th birthday this past spring.
The conference was well attended with approximately 3,000 present. Both the Pacific Coast Conference and the North East Conference have to travel long distances to the conference. Most of them bring their children so during the services and negotiations they now have special services for the children in another church. In the Business Session, it was decided to have 2 conferences- one in Hermosillo, Sonora in February, which is 800 miles closer, and another In Mexicali at another date.
Ron Roy, our Regional Director, his wife Phyllis, and their daughter, Amber, were there. They now live in Mexicali. It is so good to have them live closer to us. They took me to Brawley, CA on the last day of the conference to visit Liz Gonzales, who is like family, and to do my taxes. The mail is so slow where we live that I would not have had time to get it turned in on time.
We ask you to pray for us because we are in need of another car. The mechanics say that now the car cannot be aligned and is wearing on the front tire on the driver’s side. Here, a good used car costs approximately $5,000. Please help us pray that the Lord will supply.
We also finally got the church in Genaro Estrada painted again. This will be a blessing to the members of this church and the community there.
