Water for Nations

Mike’s Moments
At this moment I am getting ready to travel for about three days to drill four water wells at a refugee camp in the Northwestern region of Kenya. Even though the location is about 650 miles, the roads are in such bad shape, travel is determined by time not by distance. If there is one thing I have learned and have to keep reminding myself is that this is NOT about me! This past year I thought I would have come to Kenya, get the drilling rig and just start drilling wells, but oh how wrong I was. God always sees the bigger picture and I am realizing it is even bigger than we can imagine. Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit your work to the Lord and your Plans will be established.” He has been faithful and at this time we have a bigger drilling rig than first thought, we have more connections in ministry, more connections with other drilling ministries and companies, and more of a knowledge of the need for water in Kenya. This year we plan to drill at least 12 water wells and it appears that we are well on our way to accomplish this goal.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and financial support that makes it possible for my family and I to be here. Together we are making a difference in a dry and thirsty land.
Tammy Talk
I am so excited about this new year in Kenya. Last year we spent a lot of time adjusting to our surroundings and learning how to get from here to there. Although I know there will always be adjustments to make I am finally feeling more settled. I was sharing with the staff this week at Calvary Worship Center (our home church in Nairobi) how as a little girl I felt God calling me to World Missions. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to see if this is really true. I am so honored and blessed that God would call me and at the same time give me the desires of my heart.
One day recently while I was praying I saw in my spirit a giant calendar that represented every month in 2016. Through out every month I could see these bright colored packages. Every package was wrapped in detail with a gigantic bow. After seeing this image I asked the Lord to please reveal to me what this meant. I felt the meaning came clear and I felt like it represented “God surprises are on the Way!” Now I do not know about you but I love surprises, especially God ones. So it is with great expectation that I am going into this new year.
Our calendar is filling very quickly with many great things. We already have several water wells in the planning stage. God has opened up a door for me to mentor teenage and youth girls. Also Mike and I are very involved with the children’s ministry here at Calvary Worship Center when we are in Nairobi. We have two college graduations this year. Our son Austin is graduating from Emmanuel in May and our daughter Michaela is graduating from Nursing School in September. I can already see many God surprises unfolding before my eyes! Our life is definitely different but in a great way. Sometimes when I worry about my children and family in the states I am reminded that the God who created all can take care of them much better than I. Thank you for your prayers and support! I believe as you have partnered with us that there are some God surprises for you in 2016.
Joseph’s Journey
It is hard to believe I am in my second semester of high school and that I am going to High School in Kenya! I think I have adjusted well even though at times I miss my life in the USA. Probably the most thing I miss is my family and friends. I have made new friends though and I have enjoyed getting involved with the sports at my school. I was so thankful that we got to go to the USA for Christmas. While there Mom and I celebrated our birthday at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I turned 15 years old and Mom turned …. well I guess I shouldn’t say. Now that we are back I have been busy most weeks practicing basketball, playing basketball and doing homework. I made the varsity basketball team so I have been pretty excited about that. I am looking forward to this year and all the opportunities that our family has at bringing water to those who do not have it. Thank you for believing in our family.
Again thank you for all your support it is what keeps us on the field. We have a couple of teams coming this year to do some construction and children’s ministry on some well sights. If you are interested in being a part just email us at tammytalk41@yahoo.com.
