Ukraine Update
By Bill Schwartz; Regional Director of Central / Eastern Europe
We have continued to support our Ukrainian Church as they work to serve the most challenging regions that have been devastated by war. Recently, Humanitarian Aid Director, Dima Loiuk, reported, "Russia's war against Ukraine continues, and every day we live under fire from missiles, combat drones, and guided bombs that destroy everything around us. Most of the attacks are aimed at civilians and infrastructure. Today, 80% of Ukraine's electrical infrastructure and heating system have been destroyed."
Ukraine’s major concern is preparing for winter. Although it's July, a frigid and dark winter in Ukraine is approaching. Analysts are communicating that the insufficient infrastructure will prevent proper heating and lighting during those months.
For over two years the IPHC family has generously and sacrificially supported our Ukrainian brothers and sisters and empowered our IPHC Churches in Ukraine to provide lifesaving necessities to those in their communities. The need is still great. We ask everyone to pray and consider giving financially so that necessary winter equipment may be purchased including generators, inverters, warm clothes, blankets, and sleeping bags to help people survive the cold. In addition, financial gifts help humanitarian teams supply food, clothing, and all necessities for survival.
The need is urgent! Our present Humanitarian Funds for Ukraine have reached a very low balance and there is still a great need to be met. We appreciate your consideration. Your donations make a difference in Ukraine and for the people deeply affected by the war.
