January 5, 2018
In a teleconference call earlier today, the World Missions Ministries Council unanimously approved the recommendation by the Executive Director of World Missions Ministries, Bishop J. Talmadge Gardner, that Rev. Bryan Nix be appointed as the Director of People to People & TEAMS Ministries effective January 5, 2018.
Bryan recently posted the following statement by Steven Furtick on Facebook: “If you do what God has called you to do and be who God has called you to be, when the time is right – you’ll be exactly where you need to be for God’s assignment to find you.” We believe that “the time is right” and that “God’s assignment” has found Bryan “exactly where” he needs to be and are honored that he will be joining the World Missions Ministries leadership team and family. Bryan’s ability to connect to a younger demographic/generation will position People to People & TEAMS Ministries as they envision their future for many years to come; and the fact that Bryan is the grandson of legendary missionaries to Latin America and the Caribbean, Elvio and June Canavesio, provides him with an automatic connection to the IPHC’s rich missionary heritage.
Mr. “People to People,” Rev. Sherrill Orvin [Director of People to People Ministries for 25 years] and his wife Ms. Velvalee, recently hosted Bryan in their home and have recommended him for this ministry assignment with no reservations. The common thread, as I see it, is that the two of these gentlemen share the same heart, passion, and value for children.
I have asked Bryan to share a few comments with you. They are as follows:
“Today is a very humbling day for me. In 2005, while studying at Southwestern Christian University, I began working part-time for People to People. In a real way, I saw how clearly People to People, along with all of its donors, impacted the lives of children across the globe.
It is an incredible honor for me to lead and serve People to People. Rev. Sherrill Orvin took it from an idea to a reality. He was a pioneer of something extraordinary. While we have seen great success, I am confident that God has even more in store for us. As the new Director, I could not ask for a better foundation.
Thank you to Bishop Talmadge Gardner for seeing the desire and passion that God has placed in my heart. I am excited for the opportunity to serve World Missions Ministries, our missionaries, and our national leaders’ efforts around the globe.”
Grace and peace.
