A few years ago, our local IPHC pastor ventured out on his farm in Turbo, Kenya with a greenhouse in hopes that this new method would enhance production. Five greenhouses later, Pastor Daniel Kwatuha has created a very successful greenhouse farming career and is committed to sharing his method for success with other IPHC ministry in Kenya. Investing in a greenhouse for an IPHC church, school, or orphanage will provide both food and funding for these ministries for years to come. Once they are built, a variety of crops can be planted and harvested for consumption which will cut food costs. The remaining harvest can be sold to provide income for the ministry.
A greenhouse built from local materials can last for 5-10 years with little maintenance and the profit from selling vegetables will provide funds for maintenance so that the project can continue saving and earning money for the ministry for years to come. A seed germination machine speeds the process of making a seed into a viable plant by causing healthy germination in 7-14 days. This machine will supply seedlings to the greenhouses and also create another business of selling seedlings to local farmers.
We believe that this project fits perfectly with People to People’s vision of not only offering humanitarian aid but also empowering people and creating sustainability.
