Rhetta Jean Goodman
(1954 – 2023)
Rhetta Jean Goodman, 69, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Our hearts are grieved, even as heaven rejoices with her homegoing. However, her spiritual legacy will live on in the many souls she influenced for Jesus as a fervent prayer warrior and anointed singer and pianist. Rhetta was born in Barnesville, Georgia on January 31, 1954. She had a career in bookkeeping and tax preparation at Barrow’s Tax Service and substitute teaching in Escambia County Schools. She was a faithful member of Central Church in Pensacola, Florida.
Rhetta was preceded in death by her father, Pastor Hal T. Goodman, Jr.; sister, Julie B. Goodman; and brother, Ronald D. Goodman.
She is survived by her mother, Nelle Burnette Goodman; brother, Tim Goodman; sister-in-law, Karen (Kay) Goodman; and many loving relatives and friends, as well as countless brothers and sisters in Christ.
She joyfully served Jesus and the Pentecostal Holiness Church Organization in many roles of leadership. Some positions include the Director of Women’s Ministries, the Christian Education Director of Youth, and short-term missions worker in Costa Rica, Cuba, and Haiti and Sunday School teacher. Many remember her during her musical ministry with the “Sounds of Praise.” Friends recall many fond memories ranging from camps and camp meetings at River Springs, Conferences, Zoom prayer calls and Naval air shows.
Rhetta ran a good race and kept the faith. Her talent and love for God and others will live on in the hearts and minds of His people. We were praying for God to completely restore our sister, and He chose to do just that, but just not in the way our minds had preconceived. Rhetta remained steadfast in the sovereignty of her Lord and we know she is now freely praising our heavenly father in the Presence of Jesus, our Savior.
Funeral services for Rhetta Jean Goodman will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jeremy Yoder officiating. Rhetta will be laid to rest at Harvest Christian Cemetery in Cantonment, Florida.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, is entrusted with arrangements. You may express condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.

A Note from World Missions Ministries
On behalf of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church World Missions Ministries family, we honor the life of Rhetta Jean Goodman.
Rhetta began to feel drawn to missions while a sophomore at Emmanuel College. After graduating, she went on to become a licensed minister and, for a time, served as IPHC Alabama Conference’s Christian Education Director. Then, in 1991, she was approved by World Missions Ministries as a short-term missionary and served different parts of Central America and the Caribbean.
The IPHC missionary family extends its deepest sympathies to Rhetta’s mother, extended family, and friends. May the Lord bring you peace as you mourn the loss of this faithful minister of the Gospel.
