A lot has happened in our lives and ministry since we last had the chance to chat with you. We trust that you are doing well as spring is sprinting toward summer (in the northern hemisphere anyway).
For well over a year we have felt that a change was coming in our ministry. We prayed and asked the Lord to show us what was going on and what plans He would have us make. It turns out that it was His time for us to leave Wycliffe Bible Translators. This was not an easy move to make, since we have been a part of their workforce for over 25 years! At the same time, representatives of Evangel Bible Translators (EBT) approached us several times, asking us to help them with their Scripture media and other things as well.
I (David) have known EBT for quite some time, and even worked with them for 5 years earlier this century. And so after praying and getting the green light from the Lord and our IPHC World Missions leaders, we have made the move to EBT. We will be working to support their Bible translation teams in several ways.
First, I will help EBT to establish a media hub to serve the translation teams. As part of this I have hired an intern, pictured here, who is even now learning media principles and preparing to serve EBT’s teams across South Asia. He is a good Christian young man, and is committed to working with us for at least two years, and probably will for five years, Lord willing.
I will also be helping EBT with technical and logistical support. They will even let me work alongside the teams, helping them with their translations. It is so exciting to be more involved in the actual translation process! Thank you for standing with us in prayer and finance as we dive in with this new and thrilling endeavor!
With this change to working almost entirely in South Asia, in March I made my final trip to South-East Asia, working toward closure with my media teams, partners and friends there. Sad, because I had finally found the key to working in South-East Asia.
Thank you again for your kind help in keeping the wheels on our wagon. Without you we couldn’t have helped Wycliffe translation teams all of these years; nor could we bless the Evangel teams now with our skill and vision from the Lord. You are appreciated!
