News of What God is Doing in LAMCAR
by Dan & Brenda Clowers
MAY
In May we were blessed to be part of the IPHC World Conference in Hong Kong and had a great time of fellowship with many of the leaders from the LAMCAR region. I think most of us were a little out of our comfort zone when it came to the food but what an experience of a lifetime we had together. A special thanks goes to World Missions for this opportunity.
JUNE
Our new works that came into fellowship with us on the south side of the Andes are doing great. In June, a team from Northwood Temple in Fayetteville, NC led by Tommy Chester, (who put us in contact with this church) came and led a team to minister there. We ministered in three churches and three schools in the area with drama and also an eye clinic. The seed of the word that was planted is producing greatly. We received word that ten families that had come through the clinic were in church the following week after the team left! Praise the Lord for what HE has done. We also enjoyed having a short-term intern, Meghan Lawlis from Amarillo, TX help out with this team.
We enjoyed a great ministry team from the Life Point Ministries Conference in Georgia led by Mandy Lester. This team did a fantastic job with a medical team and children’s ministries along with sharing the word of God. We traveled to Macas, Ecuador and South Quito. It was a great blessing to speak into the lives of these people. As we ministered to their physical needs it opened the doors to spiritual needs which caused a natural flow of ministry to take place. One story in particular was when we ministered to the owner of the pastor’s home. She has been a great blessing to the church although she has not accepted the Lord yet. We invited her to dinner and spent time in fellowship and prayer with her afterwards. We know that God is tearing down walls and strongholds in her to do a great work in her heart.
JULY
We were blessed with the opportunity to minister again with a team from Alabama: a Southern Baptist team and a couple Methodist, ministering with Pentecostals. YES! It was the body of Christ truly coming together in harmony. The team led by Dr. Bill Powel, who is a great dentist, brought us a fantastic medical team to minister to our churches in Peru. They also had a construction team who helped me tear off an old roof of our church in Ventanilla, Sector N and then put on a great looking new metal roof. The evangelist team led many people to the Lord everywhere we went. We love working with this team and they plan on coming back next year to help in the Huanuco area over the Andes.
AUGUST
I wished you could have been with me when I attended the Annual Convention in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. The theme was ARISE and it did just that to our spirits as it was very uplifting. There were many invited speakers from the IPHC: Matt Bennett of People to People Ministries, Susan Todd of Georgetown, SC along with our Regional Director, Ron Roy and myself (Dan). From outside the IPHC there were four speakers from Costa Rica and Peru. It really was one of the best conventions I have attended in a while. I also got to visit with a great missionary couple, Judy and Ruben Perez, who had a foundational role in our mission calling.
