Spirit of God Moving in Narganjo, North India
God always surprises us with His mighty acts of deliverance. He is not only a God of quality, but He also cares for quantity. IPHC India is in its centennial year, and God called 157 people who accepted the Lord and were baptized on February 23, 2020, at Narganjo. Never in our history of 100 years, have we seen 100 people accept baptism in a single day. This is a new day and a new beginning. We are grateful for the contribution of Rev. and Mrs. Van Bloss for their teachings, which laid the foundation for this movement. We are also extremely grateful to Rev. Jim Eby for helping us to host the Great Commission Equipping Conference training in this region, which has helped this movement to focus on discipleship and evangelism.
The ministry in the Narganjo region is led by Pastor Shantial. He is an amazing man of God with much passion and unwavering faith. God has poured out His blessing over him and his ministry as he serves in great humility. He is an exceptional leader and a gift to the IPHC. This January, he was elected to serve on the Conference Board.
Shantial was working in Delhi in 2009 when God called him to full-time ministry. He saw a vision that he was standing on a mountain, and a multitude was listening to him as he preached the Word. He understood that God was calling him to his own native village, Narganjo, which is surrounded by mountains and jungle. This is the village where one of our IPHC missionaries, Emma B. Law, spent her whole life serving the poorest of the poor. This area is still one of the most underprivileged areas in the world. Shantial’s father was a product of Emma's ministry. Here we are now, witnessing what God can do with one man to accomplish His grand purpose.
The work is now growing very fast in this area, and Pastor Shantial needs help. Eleven young men and one woman have committed to serving the Lord in this movement. Kindly pray for this movement to grow beyond what we see today. This can happen if we, together, strengthen his hand. Shantial leaves his house in the morning and stays out until evening every day, ministering and sharing the good news. He is struggling physically because of a recent heart surgery, but nothing has stopped him.
Shantial travels in the mountain on his old motorbike. He has never asked for a new motorbike, but he is in great need of one. He also told me that if he had the money, he would buy a small van that could seat six to seven people to use for ministry. He thinks that team ministry with musicians and singers would help to increase the speed of reaching unreached places.
This region is one of the most backward regions. People here live in jungles, where their only earnings come from cutting wood and taking it to the nearby towns to sell. However, this hasn’t stopped them from being generous. Shantial has taught them to give a tithe. In 2019, they were the second-highest givers to missions in North India. They are taking care of most of the needs of this ministry. If you could visit, you would know the impact this ministry is making.
We are so overwhelmed at what God is up to. The Narganjo church planting movement is good ground to sow. I assure you that you will not regret being involved. This area is destined to create history, not only for the IPHC, but as a whole in North India.
