Celebrating 40 Years of Ministry & Transformation: 2014 PHCC National Leadership Conference
WRITTEN BY:
BISHOP TALMADGE GARDNER
On May 30, General Superintendent Beacham, Susan, former General Superintendent, James Leggett, Bob and Carol Cave and I had the privilege of representing the IPHC at a gala dinner in honor of Pastor Gordon and Glenda McDonald. The gala was hosted by Calvary Christian Church at the Sheraton Vancouver Guilford Hotel in Surrey, BC. Spectacular night with special friends! The tributes that their three sons gave were especially poignant.
Gordon, I thank you for your mentorship and investment in my life. You have always been particularly kind to me.
In a purposeful and deliberate way you followed the leading of the Lord and prepared for this transition. I honor you for finishing this season of your journey WELL! In my twenty-six years of service at the GMC I have seen more leaders than not end poorly. You, once again, lead by example. You and Glenda have my respect and admiration!
While in Vancouver, Presiding Bishop Beacham, Bishop Leggett and I were privileged to preach in the 2014 Transformation Pentecostal Holiness Church of Canada [PHCC] General Conference. Thank you for personally honoring me with this distinct privilege. I congratulate you on your re-election as General Superintendent. May this season/quadrennium of ‘ministerial convergence’ create the most productive yield of fruitfulness in your ministry.
The partnership between the PHCC and the IPHC World Ministries Division has always been significant and Kingdom-minded. The PHCC birthed our ministry in Cuba and Kenya. You have sent missionaries to China, Argentina, South Africa, and Haiti. You have helped us plant churches globally and you have generously contributed to our efforts to provide humanitarian relief when natural disasters have struck globally. You understand that as Disciples of Christ we have a moral imperative to ‘Go and make followers of all people in the world.” I thank you and the PHCC for your trust. May God be glorified by our collective labors in His vineyard!
