Greetings Faithful Supporters,
December is a time of celebration of why Christ was born! I wish you and your families a blessed season of celebrations. May your unity in faith increase and strengthen as we express our thankfulness for the life of Christ, demonstrating God’s Love for us. The savior of the world was born, and as this story is told, let’s pray together that, this season, many more will come to salvation.
At Cure Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Blantyre-Malawi, the children heard a lesson on the theme, “Christ was Born to Save Me” from Matthew 1:18-24. Before leaving the kids, each one was given a children's Bible in their own language, Chichewa. Pray as these kids are taking the good news back to their village. Pray for Bible readers to step up and read the Bible stories to the village. Thank you for all who give to the program, Bibles for Southern Africa WMM account 11643P. You made this possible. On December 25, the street kids in Blantyre at Stekahouse will be served breakfast with a lesson and will also receive Bibles.
December is a good month to bring youth together. Rev. Joe Delport, regional director for Southern Africa, planned with The Awakening team to do just that. From eight nations, youth gathered in Zambia with the national leaders of their countries. The goal was to seek God, to be empowered by God, for His plans to be birthed with a passion strategy to be embraced for the work of the Great Commission, and for the youth to rise up ready for responsibility and leadership.
Max Barroso brought a word from 1 Kings 18, helping all to understand that each Christian person is the answer, for the nations are in a spiritual drought. God wants to do something through His vessels. We need to restore the altar and give ourselves as a drink offering, returning all of our hearts to Him. A breakthrough is the promise. We may at first see just a small fist sized cloud, but really, we should see a flood like Elijah that will break forth. God is ready to build His people as a virgin of Israel to give birth to what will give God glory! Let’s rejoice as God works in His people for readiness this spiritual season to flood the earth with His glory.
The leaders of each nation for the IPHC are critical keys that help the churches develop effective children’s ministries with programs to involve kids in outreaches, missions, and praying for unreached people groups. Rev. Joe Delport is helping to get these booklets to leaders to embrace strategy developing, fruit-bearing children’s ministries. They will also be directed to the following website for resources: WWW.WAKNET.COM. Pray, as the leaders’ focus this coming year will be on each nation developing a children's ministry development plan. With this plan in place, specific leaders and workers will be trained to reach, teach, and mobilize the kids to become a task force and a mighty army of prayer warriors.
I will spend this Christmas in Malawi, Central Africa, where I am based for now. I will then prepare for my flight out of Malawi to Mauritius. I will spend time in Mauritius through part of January and February 2020 to work with students who were trained during September 2019. Then, in the capital city, a newly planted church group wants to be equipped to reach kids in the community. This will be the right time for me to begin writing kids Bible doctrine, and to see how the kids respond to reading and using the resource to build strong biblical truths and to develop a belief system that will guard them against false doctrine.
May this year ahead be a great harvest season. May God use us as a Great Commission team to reach His goals. I am keeping my heart focused on His will (Matthew 18:14), for it is not our heavenly father’s will for any one of these little ones to be lost.
Prayer Requests:
• Thank God for the youth in Southern Africa who came to The Awakening conference to arise and passionately lead their groups to develop relevant churches in their communities, reaching youth and children while growing as strategic leaders.
• Pray for the work in Mauritius, and that God will open minds and hearts to reaching kids in the community in Port Lois, the capital city.
• Pray for church planters to arise and plant more churches in Mauritius.
• Pray for national leaders, who will be sharing information that will grow passionate ministry leaders to arise in churches and grow the churches with a focus on missions.
Season’s Blessings,
Althea
