NORTH CAROLINA CONFERENCE
QUADRENNIAL SESSION
AUGUST 1-2, 2014
BY: BISHOP THOMAS MCGHEE
It was an honor to serve as the Presiding Officer for the North Carolina Quadrennial Conference held in Falcon, North Carolina. The Conference was conducted Friday and Saturday, August 1st and 2nd. I was blessed again to present the “We Prayerfully Value Scripture” for our opening devotion. It was the 8th time to share this presentation and I was still blessed as were the attendees. Approximately 450-500 were in attendance. It was a pleasure to recognize former Conference Superintendents, Bishop James Leggett, Rev. T.E. Long, and Bishop Chris Thompson.
Bishop Jimmy Whitfield shared a summary of his “State of the Conference” Report in which he recognized several areas of progress. The good news of the financial condition of the conference was met with an expression of thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness. At the conclusion of his report Bishop Whitfield shared with the conference that it had been his intention to retire at this conference session, however, after prayer and consultation with legal advisors and church leaders he and the Conference Executive Council felt it was best that he continue to serve. The primary issue that caused this change in plans was the continuing process of bringing the North Carolina Ministerial Loan Fund into full compliance with the regulations and requirements of the State of North Carolina. When the election process began, Bishop Jimmy Whitfield was elected by acclamation as Superintendent.
The following members were elected to serve as members of the Executive Council:
Danny Nelson – Assistant Superintendent & Evangelism/World Missions Director
Oris Hubbard – Secretary/Treasurer
Jon Oliver – Discipleship Ministries Director
Fernando Angulo – Hispanic Ministries Director
Linda Thomas – Lay Representative
Doug Bartlett, Dwight Dunning, Paul Evans, Bill Rose, Kevin Robinson, and Ryan Jackson – Members at Large
This election brings together one of the most diverse Executive Councils in the IPHC. Over the two days of business, debates were sometimes spirited but always in a good spirit. Twelve (12) individuals received Minister’s License and 10 Ministers were ordained or welcomed into the conference with ordination status. Ordination:
Robert Arlen Arnold, Jr.
Carlos Carrillo
Ted Coody
John Michael Gist
Jim Howell, Jr.
Pattie Turner Jones
Gilberto Pagan
Jonathan Stafford
Nicholas Andrew Tucker
Daniel Glenn Woods
Licensed:
Luis Antonio Blanco

Continue to pray for Bishop Jimmy Whitfield and the North Carolina Conference to find favor with those in authority in state government that they will be able to complete this process of full compliance with their Loan Fund.
