Jacksonville, FL (January 11, 2016) – The Tim Tebow Foundation announced that 200 churches, in 48 states and eight countries have signed up to host Night to Shine, an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 16 and older. The event will occur simultaneously in host churches around the world on the night of February 12, 2016. Night to Shine, which is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, is very close to the heart of the foundation’s founder, Tim Tebow.
“When I was 15 years old, I began to realize the importance of fighting for people who can’t fight for themselves,” said Tebow. “As a foundation, we are so passionate about people with special needs, and this event is a great time to tell them how much they are loved by God and by all of us.”
Every guest of Night to Shine will enter this complimentary event on a red carpet, complete with a warm welcome from a cheering crowd and friendly paparazzi. Once inside, guests will receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining stations, corsages and boutonnieres, a karaoke room and, of course, dancing! The highlight of the night will come when every one of the Night to Shine guests is crowned as a king or queen of the prom.
Night to Shine began on Valentine’s Day weekend 2015 with 44 churches hosting proms across the country and the world. Now, after already seeing more than a 400% increase from its inaugural year, the Tim Tebow Foundation will provide more than $2 million in sponsorships to the host churches and is anticipating more than 70,000 volunteers serving more than 30,000 kings and queens of the prom. As sponsor of Night to Shine, the Tim Tebow Foundation provides each host church with a detailed instruction manual, a Prom Kit complete with decorations and gifts for the guests, financial support and individualized staff guidance.
“We are honored to be able to work with so many churches across the country and around the world to impact the lives of people with special needs,” said Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation. “We hope that the movement of Night to Shine not only transforms the way we think about Valentine’s Day, but also launches or enhances ongoing special needs ministries within churches around the world, providing a place where our honored guests can go and be celebrated and loved throughout the whole year.”
The Tim Tebow Foundation encourages everyone to get involved in some way. Whether by attending as a guest, volunteering time the evening of the event, donating money to this cause or praying for the lives that will be touched, there are plenty of ways to be involved in Night to Shine.
