By Bishop Thomas McGhee
This past weekend, I was privileged to join Bishop Gordon Atwell for the 2016 Annual Session of the Passion Connection Ministries Conference.
Friday morning, June 3, was set for business. Bishop Atwell opened our session by sharing a scripture and prayer. He then shared the State of the Conference report along with his heart for evangelism and a greater sense of unity that he is believing for throughout the conference. He reported a membership of 20 Churches and 68 ordained, 2 Licensed and 9 Local Church Ministers. Bishop Atwell asked Pastor Ricky Sinclair to share a report of what is happening at Miracle Church. Pastor Sinclair reported on several ministries that are being supported by large thrift stores which not only provide financial support but also employment for many of the people who are being won to the Lord through their efforts. Josh Atwell shared a report on the youth ministries in the local church and conference. He also promoted the upcoming Youth Quest gathering in Daytona Beach. I was blessed to share our message related to our core value, “We Prayerfully Value Holiness.”
A second session was held Friday night for those who couldn’t attend the morning session. The evening began with a tasty meal of jambalaya provided by one of the area churches. The evening service was a worship service format and they asked that I again share the message on our core value, “We Prayerfully Value Holiness”, which was well received.
The conference concluded Saturday morning with a prayer service led by Bishop Atwell. After sharing requests, Bishop Atwell led the group in a time of prayer for the needs of the ministers and churches that make up Passion Connection Ministries.
Immediately following the conclusion of the morning prayer time, we were treated with a Bayou favorite “Crawfish Boil” prepared by the local church. After being adorned with a large bib custom made from a trash bag I sat down to a table spread of crawfish, potatoes, corn on the cob, etc. Personal instruction was provided by Bishop Atwell on the fine art of peeling and eating the spicy crawfish.
It is always a pleasure to be with Bishop Atwell and his family. Continue to pray for them and the Passion Connection Ministries conference.
