Power Chicks: Where Are They Now?
From the first Power Chicks in 2007 to the last one in 2015, we have been honored to have some great young women as interns. Most of them were college students at the time. Many of them are now serving God in leadership roles for the IPHC and others allow His light to shine through them in secular roles. Over the next few months, we are on a mission to see where they are now and what they are doing. It is clear that we chose some good role models.
The first group of five ladies we want to highlight in this issue all work in the Global Ministry Center of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. These young ladies served as Power Chicks band and worship team members in 2011 and 2015. Abigail (Palacios) Moore served as the worship leader at Power Chicks ’11 and Madeline (Lafferty) Nix played keyboard and sang on the team. Abby now serves in Evangelism USA as the Administrative Assistant for Acts2Day Ministries. She also serves her local church as Worship Pastor. Madeline serves with The Awakening leading teams of youth all over the world. Serving as the leader of Power Chicks ’15 was Meredith Light who now serves as a Creative Specialist in Discipleship Ministries. Shelby Emmert, played keyboard for the 2015 worship team and Madeline (Sanderson) Raglin played the guitar and sang. Madeline serves in World Missions as their Communications Coordinator, and Shelby’s smiling face greets staff and visitors at the reception desk of the IPHC and serves as an assistant in the Accounting Department.
It was an honor to get to work with each of these ladies on the two different praise bands on which they served in 2011 and 2015. Their commitment to attend Power Chicks (with no pay!) speaks to their character and commitment to God. It dawned on me one day that five former Power Chicks band members now work in the GMC building with me. I must admit, it makes me quite proud to know that these young ladies continue to care about ministry to the IPHC. They continue to serve God and to use their gifts in Kingdom work. Stay tuned for future issues to learn about other interns who have served. We will also plan to highlight two or three girls who have attended one of the Power Chicks events.
We have another great event planned for you and your girls. Come be part of an amazing time of discipleship, worship, and fun! See you in Ridgecrest, North Carolina, July 26-29, 2019!
