We find the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:9-13, a passage of Scripture where Jesus is teaching the disciples how to pray. In that same chapter, Jesus also urges them to humble themselves, pray in the secret place, and refrain from using repetitive words. In other words, pray with fewer words and more intimacy. Oftentimes, we need to remember to speak less, so God can speak more.
Matthew 6: 9-13 NKJV
“In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
